Summary
We're looking for a Benefits Consultant to provide clients with advisory services and develop and oversee the strategic direction of the benefits programs and other people’s strategies. The role is focused on strategy and growth. The role acts as the main avenue of strategic client contact for the book of business, grows the book of business through sales to existing clients, is a proactive leader in the development of the client’s benefit plan strategy, serves as a subject matter expert, and is accountable to the clients serving. The Benefit Consultant is also involved in managing relationships with key carrier partnerships.
This is a hybrid position with in-office flexibility 2-3 days a week.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Retention of clients through relationship building, subject matter expertise, and leadership.
- Growing book of business through new business opportunities and cross-selling other functional areas to existing clients.
- Providing clients with innovative, creative, and simple solutions to their business needs.
- Continual focus on progressing sales and diligent maintenance of a sales pipeline; active participation in Sales and Advisory team.
- Meeting or exceeding a sales goal.
- Partnering with Managing Directors during the sales process.
- Management of assigned client Life Cycle steps.
- Appropriate delegation of client work to ensure high-quality of delivery.
- Understanding market trends, laws, and regulations that pertain to benefit plans and advising clients appropriately.
- Participating in the product development process.
- Understanding and presenting data and subject matter as it pertains to benefit plans and claims projections during the renewal and other processes.
- Working with clients to build financial plan strategies that align with their goals, budgets, and needs and partnering with the delivery team to execute on those goals.
- Final negotiations with carrier partners on renewals.
- Sharing knowledge and experience with teams to aid in the growth and development of teammates as well as the corporation.
- Developing strong working relationships with clients.
- Uncovering and understanding client needs to turn them into new business opportunities.
- Organizing, designing, and maintaining systems and processes that support the projects and teams.
- Leading and directing others.
- Meeting deadlines and providing direction to teammates to complete projects.
- Preparing, disclosing, and handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Organizing and maintaining accurate records and filing systems.
- Being open to travel, keeping a flexible schedule, and maintaining a good driving record.
- Taking initiative and developing formalized processes.
- Performing other duties as assigned.

- Sitting for long periods of time.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, finance, or a related major, or equivalent industry experience.
- One to three years of related experience within a services-related company or related field.
- Account management or project/team leadership experience.
- Benefits consulting experience highly preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registration
- Health and Life Producer license
