The Alakaina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for an Electronic Technician C, Crypto/Naval Messaging to support our government customer located in Kekaha, Kauai . Independently or under supervision and assignment from a Senior Technician or the Lead Technician, will provide contracted operational and maintenance support services to the Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF) customer. The technician will be assigned as a Cryptographic Limited Maintenance/Naval Message Handler. DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Specific assignments and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following areas: Sets-up, checks-out, operates, monitors and maintains systems and equipment for Range Operations support. Responds to evolving operational environments requirements when directed. Perform periodic inspections and maintenance tasks in accordance with published procedures and/or OEM guidelines. Documents results of all maintenance actions in systems and equipment records. Performs duties associated with Message Center activity including assistance in preparing, sending, receiving, processing and distributing classified and unclassified message traffic. Assists with Communications Security (COMSEC) functions including accounting, loading, destruction and courier services for classified controlled cryptographic items and materials. May support occasional travel for operations and maintenance support at other locations throughout the State of Hawai'i to include at sea for extended periods. Performs other duties as required. Environment: Electronics Shop and Radio Frequency field environment Operations Command & Control Center Travel to and work at remote site locations to include at sea for extended periods. Physical elements of the position include: Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull, install and remove equipment and peripherals up to 50lbs. Walking, sitting, standing, customer contact, extended workday, field assignment sometimes in inclement weather. REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Associates Degree or equivalent training, e.g. Navy A School, a two (2) Year Technical School or military specialty training in related field. Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain the certification requirements within DOD 8570.01-M and an Operating Environment Certification commensurate with contract requirements. DOD 8570.01-M certification is mandatory within sixty (60) days of employment for continued employment. Certification within the required Computing Environment must be obtained within six (6) months of employment. REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE : Two (2) years of progressive experience in a related field operating and maintaining COMSEC accounts and associated systems and equipment. Knowledge of Radio Frequency (RF) and associated telecommunications technologies involving cryptographic material. COMSEC keying material loading and bulk encryption devices. Progressive experience in reading and interpreting schematic diagrams for simple troubleshooting and repair. Must possess the following PC skills: OS, Word, Excel, MS Outlook, Power Point, and Windows REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE: Must be a U.S. Citizen Secret security clearance is required. (Applicants selected either must currently possess a Secret clearance or will be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain clearance prior to commencement of employment, and maintain a security clearance for access to classified information or Closed/Restricted Areas throughout duration of employment.)
