Summary

This Support Craft Maritime Mechanic SME position is located in Norfolk, Virginia. The selected candidate will perform corrective and preventative maintenance mechanical operation, troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, and assessment in support of Maritime Special Operations Forces Support (MSOFS) Watercraft.

*This role is contingent upon being awarded the contract.

What You Will Do

  • Providing field service representatives to perform minor equipment modification, installation of equipment and maintenance of SOF equipment at the Echelon II level and below.
    • The types of specialized equipment to be supported include but is not limited to: Combatant Craft variants (CCA, CCH, CCM), Special Operations Craft-Riverine (SOC-R), Rigid-Hull Inflatable Boats (RHIBs), Maritime Combatant Craft Aerial Delivery System, SEAL Delivery Vehicle and dry deck shelter, ground mobility vehicles and other tactical vehicles. Various dive equipment and weapons that are standard issued to NSW operators are also considered equipment
  • May train and provide instruction on the various equipment and/or platforms.
  • Perform corrective and preventative maintenance mechanical operation, troubleshooting, repair, and material assessment of all equipment and boat's equipment in accordance with OEM specifications.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact (POC) for problem resolution and liaison with Government.
  • Ensures contract deliverables are accurately and timely submitted.
  • Make decisions relating to Expeditionary Equipment Readiness Services Support program.


What You Must Have

  • High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 8 years of related experience, to include specific systems expertise.
  • Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
  • Must have a current, active DoD Secret Clearance and be able to obtain a DoD Top Secret Security clearance.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years' experience of general marine propulsion and or power generation experience in operations, maintenance, repair, or inspections.
  • Must have previous experience as a factory certified mechanic on a Suzuki DF250APXX outboard engines.
  • Must have at least 5 years' experience as an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) certified mechanic with either Evinrude, Honda, Mercury, or Yamaha commercial outboard engines and ancillary equipment..
  • Must have at least one (1) year of experience in aluminum and glass reinforced plastic (GRP) hull repair at the depot level.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards,under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
