Job Description

General Dynamics Mission SystemsCanada has an opportunity for a Systems Engineering Analyst Lead in our Air & Naval division. In this role you will work with our customer and other industry stakeholders in developing the plans and procedures for in-service support (ISS) programs. You will provide a comprehensive ISS program and Through Life Management Plan (TLMP) plan while leading cross-functional Integrated Project Teams (IPTs).Responsibilities include:

  • Manage databases, research and analyze data, perform technical assessments, recommend improvements, and produce reports and metrics as requested by the customer and/or program manager
  • Develop Proposals, Statement of Works (SOWs) and Quotes for the Emergent Work Requests, respond to Requests for Quotes (RFQ) from the customer and perform estimates and provide technical information required to support submission of quotes
  • Along with the Program Manager (PM) and Deputy PM, plan and develop an Annual Operating Plan (AOP) for budget considerations
  • Utilize the customer's Information System and GDMS-Cs Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to collect, analyze and monitor key elements of the program
  • Lead the Initial Baseline Review (IBR) configuration audit activities and associated report creation to document the results in support of the TLMP
  • Provide support and influence for the planning, scheduling and execution of program docking work periods (DWPs) including repairs, overhauls, and maintenance
  • Work closely with industry partners on repair and overhaul, obsolescence management, upgrade planning, failure monitoring and analysis, and spares inventory management
  • Oversee the free flow repair and overhaul of the highly complex Radar systems to ensure that repairs/overhauls are executed in a timely manner
  • Support and/or lead the development of complex Engineering Changes (EC) including upgrades to the Radar Systems
  • Assist the PM and Deputy PM with strategic initiatives
  • Travel to the Fleet Maintenance Facility (FMF) sites in Victoria, BC and Halifax NS to interact with the Ships Staff and DND maintainers in order to establish and maintain open communications as part of the Industry Integrated Project Team (IPT)
  • Travel to the OEM facilities as required, in order to oversee progress on System Overhauls and other work assigned to the Major Subcontractors
  • Support the planning, initiation and execution of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), work packages, cost accounts
  • Support periodic schedule and cost status including preparation of presentations for company and customer program reviews
  • Proactively identify issues and make recommendations to mitigate risk
  • Support program financial analysis by providing knowledgeable advice with regard to the reliability and associated risks of forecast data
  • Support commercial services (up-contract) and subcontract management (OEMs) in the preparation of programmatic, financial and technical correspondence with the customer and subcontractors

Qualifications

  • The successful candidate for this position will have a Bachelors Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 5 years' of experience
  • Strong communicator and ability to motivate others through collaborative leadership
  • Champion new ideas and calculated risk-taking
  • Excellent analytical capacity to interpret data and link to underlying causes, identify trends and problems early on and make recommendations
  • Positive attitude and ability to work within a team environment
  • Proficient with MS Excel, MS Word and PowerPoint, MS Project
  • Experience working with manufacturers of defence and naval and/or aerospace equipment would be an asset
  • Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
