What You Will Do

As a Maintenance Support Specialist 3, you will report directly to the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) Work Control Team Lead, responsible for providing the institution with a robust, reliable CMMS system. LANL uses the Asset Suite application as its CMMS system. This position requires maintaining application, database, reports and other programs use in support of Work Control processes and services. The selected candidate will ensure that services between CMMS and other applications are operational, CMMS data including equipment information is of quality, evaluate maintenance processes, programs, and procedures for potential improvements. This position will also maintain maintenance policies, processes, procedures, and provide training in support of the conduct of maintenance program.

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide formal and informal training in the use of various maintenance program processes and evaluate and critique performance.
  • Assist in performing periodic reviews and assessments to ensure maintenance programs are implemented.
  • Research, assemble, and/or evaluate information or data regarding industry practices or applicable regulatory changes affecting policies or programs; recommend sound, practical solutions to complex issues.
  • Design, specify and develop solutions for CMMS computing infrastructure.
  • Perform research and development to identify and implement applicable emerging technologies for CMMS.
  • Utilize formal project management methodologies; gather customer requirements; perform risk management functions; perform capacity and availability planning for computing infrastructure.
  • Provide operational support for customers using standard operating procedures. Operational duties may include troubleshooting, granting permissions, and training CMMS users.
  • Ensure CMMS data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions, including maintaining equipment data and ensuring data meets engineering and maintenance standards.


What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

Knowledge & Expertise: Advance knowledge of industry, regulatory and DOE/NNSA codes, standards and criteria pertinent to Conduct of Maintenance and Configuration Management. Ability to fully provide user support for customers using standard maintenance and engineering procedures.

Planning & Prioritization: Ability to fully conceptualize and communicate major elements of maintenance work control and planning to both technical and non-technical personnel.

Technology: Advance knowledge and experience with maintenance processes and computer skills. Advance knowledge of CMMS software tools and processes.

Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Working experience and or knowledge with Asset Suites software application.
  • Active Q Clearance.
  • Understanding of LANL's work control and facility policies, practices, and procedures.
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q
(Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
