Engineering Intern - Military Veterans

Job Description

Canrig is seeking an intern for the Engineering team. The intern will collaborate with other engineers to support the various equipment product lines. In this role, the intern will gain experience in the engineering design process and learn about the various equipment made by Canrig and their operation in a drilling rig.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• Must be 18 years of age at the start of the intern program.
• Must have a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
• Must be working toward a BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Must be able to thrive in fast-paced, deadline-orientated environment.
• Must be able to create/edit drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experienced using SolidWorks Simulation or similar FEA program.
• Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Have a record of team or project experience in a work setting and/or extracurricular activities.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
• Completed engineering course in Statics
• Completed or currently enrolled in Material Science or Mechanics of Materials courses.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS
• Primarily will be in an office environment.
• On occasion may be in a shop or rig location
• Walking or standing for long periods of time.
• Bending or stooping
• Climbing stairs and/or ladders
• Lifting up to 50lbs
• Use of hand tools
• Operating a vehicle

Responsibilities

• Support experienced engineers
• Complete assigned project and adhere to benchmarks
• Model design concepts using 3D parametric software
• Perform engineering calculations as required
• Perform Finite Element Analysis (such as SolidWorks Simulation) as needed
• Create / review work instructions
• Prepare ECN, bills of material, detail and assembly drawings
