About the Opportunity
Nuclear Power Programmes is one of the newest Business Units and has been formed with the vision to support positive change and help shape the future of Nuclear Power.
Operational throughout the UK and across continental Europe, we are seeking to expand our team on a variety of nuclear projects, which range in technologies and that find themselves at different stages of their development. To do this, we are seeking to continuously employ talented individuals to join our diverse team that are excited about nuclear projects and are committed to Net Zero, and Energy Security.

Amentum are currently recruiting for an Engineering and Technical Lead (Marine & Tunnelling) to support the Sizewell C Project, this role will by Hybrid with time spent 3 days per week in London. The SZC Project Team is a growing, diverse and collaborative organisation committed to engaging stakeholders, triggering development consent and preparing the project for the start of construction. The Engineering & Technical function within the Civil Works Programme (CWP) is an integral part of this project, responsible for the:
- Definition of design, engineering and technical requirements (Basic Design level)
- Coordination of Assurance of the Marine & Technical design against the technical requirements (assurance provided by internal third parties)
- Management of Responsible Designer Technical Scope and coordination with the Design Authority and Technical Directorate
- Coordination and integration of design with other portions within CWP
- Ensure the role of Intelligent Customer is performed including surveillance against all required standards
- Manage E&T budget and associated resources.
- Assurance that the Principal Designer duties under CDM are being properly discharged and complied
- Support to Construction and Manufacturing Quality
- Represent the CWP in respect of design and engineering in performance management, programme/project controls and governance forums
- Oversight of CWA's construction planning and temporary works design
- Support the Programme/PMs with oversight of specialist engineering activities
- Degree educated (BSc), ideally within Civil Engineering
- Post grad qualification (MSc)
- Membership of professional institution (e.g. ICE/BTS/APM)
- Experienced and knowledgeable of design activities in heavy civil engineering structures
- Tunnelling and lining knowledge; launch shafts and connection shafts, reinforced concrete and structural steel and
- Familiarity with current design standards and working practices (e.g. British Standards)
- Marine works, including offshore shafts design and construction, permanent and temporary works and familiarity with current UK design standards and working practices
- Managing multi-discipline designs and teams, including integration, design and delivery management
- Oversight of D&B tunnel contracts
- Desire to provide, technical assistance and collaboration within a technically orientated delivery team
- Experience in nuclear industry & associated standards (eg. RCC-CW)
- Leadership of focused technical teams including technical direction of suppliers
- Ability to communicate and engage effectively within the project team and if required across a range of organisational levels and stakeholders
