Base Chemist - Military Veterans

Amentum is seeking a Base Chemist to support the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) Mission in Andros Island, Bahamas. AUTEC is a Major Range and Test Facility Base (MRTFB) and the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport's largest single team project, providing both deep and shallow water test and training environments. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance. Note: U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for chemical sampling and analysis in support of Standard Operational Procedures P4423-03 Potable Water Treatment, P4423-06 Fuels Management, P4423-07 Wastewater Treatment.
  • Based on lab results, makes recommendations to adjust operational procedures to best comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Requires ability to isolate problems & innovate solutions as applied to the potable water collection, purification, and distribution processes.
  • Primary point of contact for development and execution of multiple vendor support agreements. with qualified chemical lab services to satisfy regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Submits monthly reports as required by contract.
  • Supports escort requirements as needed to secure/sensitive facilities.
  • Attend all required training classes when represented and scheduled.
  • Other duties as required.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry with a minimum of 3 years professional experience in a related field.
  • Strong background in analytical chemistry with a working knowledge of the Safe Drinking Water Act highly desirable.
  • Obtain CNIC Overseas drinking water certification for water production and water distribution within 1 year of hire.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suites (Word, Excel and Outlook) and MAXIMO.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and access utility trenches and on occasion confined spaces
  • Interpersonal skills to interface with all levels of personnel in multi-cultural team-oriented environment
  • Occasionally lifts/carries/pushes/pulls up to 50 pounds of supplies.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to reside in remote work location with limited medical facilities.
  • Valid driver's license and passport will be required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance. Note: U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3 years of cumulative specialized experience in at least 3 of the following areas is preferred. Qualifying experience consists of one or more years' experience in any single area: (a) Analysis of liquid, solid and gaseous materials. (b) Sewage treatment plant effluent analysis. (c) Reverse osmosis plant operation. (d) Municipal water distribution systems. (e) Fuel oil analysis.
