The work we do at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) matters to our country and the world! The Innovative Customer Experience (ICE) Division is looking for some dynamic leaders! As a Group Leader within the I&T Organization you will collaborate with the Deputy Group Leader within to lead and advance an IT group for one of the most important research institutions in the world.
An IT Manager 4 is a key member and contributor in the leadership team responsible for contributing to strategic direction, providing oversight on IT initiatives, working with, and supporting the group and division leadership, developing, and maintaining good customer and cross-organizational relations, promoting a strong safety, security, and ethics culture, and assisting the Division Office on other duties as assigned.
ICE division consists of more than 350 talented Solution Architects, Computer Systems Professionals, and Computer System Technician employees who provide the varied Laboratory organizations with Information Technology experts who design, build, and support their mission-driven technical needs, on the unclassified and classified networks through several different service touchpoints. In addition, optimize the use of information technology, ensure seamless delivery and operation of IT services by monitoring system performance, applying configuration management practices, creating processes and standards for selection and implementation.
The IT Manager 4 (Group Leader) for the Device Configuration Services (ICE-DCS) group serves a critical role in ensuring consistency and standardization across Windows, Mac and mobility platforms. The IT Manager 4 is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities and group operations. The role requires collaboration with other I&T organizations to ensure configuration standards are met, security is enhanced and the devices under the organization's purview enable customers to achieve organizational objectives. The ICE-DCS organization provides the enterprise level configuration management and patching services for Windows, Mac and mobility platforms.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience in the field of desktop and server computing support, computing infrastructure design and implementation, network integration, and an understanding of Laboratory computing and network operations (unclassified and/or classified)
- Demonstrated experience implementing and enhancing configuration management standards as they pertain to operating systems (Windows and/or Mac) for an enterprise
- Demonstrated experience with collaboration across organizational boundaries, and the ability to manage customer relationships in a positive and effective manner
- Technical leadership experience with an emphasis on planning, employee development, performance management, team building, goal setting, problem solving, and conflict resolution
- Demonstrated leadership skills including selecting, retaining, and developing high-quality staff
- Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of management and cyber security personnel
Desired Qualifications:
- Active DOE L or Q clearance, or equivalent, transferable clearance
- Knowledge of IT governance frameworks such as ITIL, or COBIT
- Demonstrated experience with cyber security related technologies and practices
- Demonstrated experience with cyber related IT audits
- Demonstrated experience with metrics driven process improvement, leadership initiatives, and implementing process change
- Demonstrated experience managing budgets

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances.Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances.See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
