The Miami University Director of Education Abroad has oversight of the operational support for the administration and management for study abroad, study away, and related student travel experiential learning programs.

Job Description

In this role, the Director leads the team, and monitors the Education Abroad operations and advising and tasks to ensure efficient and effective workflows that lead to increased efficiencies. Includes support for equitable student success in global learning, effective collaboration with faculty leaders, compliance with Education Abroad standards and policies, enrollment management strategies, and administering a substantial load of faculty led programs in addition to provider, direct enroll, and non-credit opportunities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Oversee a large volume of short-term faculty led study abroad/away and co-sponsored programs in collaboration across academic divisions and departments.

Oversight of robust and effective advising toward meeting enrollment goals in education abroad. 

Supervise staff including assistant/associate directors, coordinators, and advisors.

Coordinate with staff across Global Initiatives.

Collaborate with colleagues across the university to ensure safe, exceptional academic experiential learning programs designed to increase global competence and career readiness, with consistent assessment of learning outcomes and goals for students, programs, and administrative goals.

Master’s degree and seven years of work experience in international education or education abroad. Or a combination of education and experience.

Experience with the development and management of global programs.

Experience in a leadership position and as an effective supervisor.

Desired Qualifications

Doctorate in relevant discipline

Ten years of experience in international education

Proficiency in a second language

Active in professional organizations such as Forum on Education Abroad and NAFSA

Evidence of excellent organizational skills: time management, communication, and planning, including follow through to resolution.
