Lab Technician Temporary - Military Veterans

RESPONSIBILITIES
Howmet Engine Systems has an immediate temporary opening for a Lab Quality Control Technician to assist in the manufacturing process at our facility in Rochester, NY
Basic Function:
Work in all metal forgings positions to assist operators in the completion of customer orders. This position is based in our Rochester, NY facility. Candidates should be shift flexible.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare test samples to be sent to outside testing labs by cutting to size by saw, torch or weld rod as defined on the computer spread sheet.
- Package test material to be sent daily.
- Assisting in the rework process by assuring test pieces are with the parts before they are sent back to the forge shop.
- Prepare macroscopic samples to include cutting sample from bar stock or forging, grinding a flat surface, and macro etching.
- Perform spot micro preparation.
- Perform daily housekeeping functions (sweeping, hose down, etc.)
- Operate forklift.
- Perform other departmental general duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 year of experience in a manufacturing or Industrial setting
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts and apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Must be able to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Continuously lift up to 30 lbs
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Salary Range: $17-$18 /hour depending on experience
