A Structural Engineer is needed for a global engineering, construction and project management company in the Houston, TX area. This role involves performing engineering tasks such as design, testing, calculations, and reviews within a specific discipline, while contributing to project controls and fostering a collaborative work environment.

salary: $44.05 - 57.17 per hour


work hours: 8am to 4pm


education: Bachelors


 


responsibilities:




  • Performs work within one engineering discipline, involving preparation, interpretation, or review of calculations, specifications, plans, investigations, surveys, structures, systems, or equipment with relatively few complex features.

  • Participates in equipment design and development.

  • Involved in system design, including concept sketches and layouts.

  • Conducts testing of materials.

  • Prepares specifications and design calculations.

  • Reviews and checks designs, drawings, and data prepared by other engineers or suppliers.

  • Prepares or reviews engineering studies and reports.

  • Prepares or reviews material quantity estimates.

  • Uses engineering CAD/CAE tools for design and analysis.


Skills:





  • Basic skill in oral and written communication.

  • Technical knowledge of engineering systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering methods and construction methods and materials, and application of computer aided engineering (CAE)/computer aided design (CAD) tools to engineering problems.

  • Knowledge of project controls within discipline.

  • Good knowledge of major industry or regulatory standards and design criteria pertinent to the particular engineering discipline.

  • Performs overall systems design and engineering tasks, within a discipline, having some degree of complexity.

  • Understands roles played by other disciplines on the project.

  • Participates in reviewing and checking designs, drawings and data by other engineers or by suppliers.


Education and Experience:





  • A recognized degree in an engineering or a related scientific discipline, from an accredited college or university

  • With 3+ years of experience.
