Director, Digital Solutions of Product Management - Salesforce Platform - Military Veterans

How will your role impact First Command?

 

The Director of Digital Product Management for Unified Engagement Platform at First Command will own and lead the Salesforce Platform, driving strategic initiatives that align platform offerings with impactful client and business outcomes. Through the development of an actionable strategy and fostering strong partnerships with business leaders, the Director will bridge product and business strategies to deliver measurable value.

 

In this role, the Director will champion product vision and define roadmaps across the Salesforce Clouds (Experience, Service, Marketing, and Financial Services), ensuring alignment with First Command’s mission to serve the financial needs of military families. This includes overseeing the creation and presentation of business cases, articulating product requirements, and guiding teams to execute initiatives that meet client needs and business goals. Collaborating across functions and engaging subject matter experts, the Director will drive timely, market-ready releases.

 

The Director will leverage client insights and proven digital solutions to implement innovative approaches that resonate with customers. Success will be measured by defining, tracking, and optimizing product and client experience metrics, ensuring each product delivers on its intended value. Additionally, in collaboration with sales and marketing, the Director will support effective messaging and strategic campaigns to reinforce First Command's position as a trusted leader in financial services for military families, ultimately contributing to company growth and client satisfaction.

 

 

What will you be doing?

 

Portfolio Leadership and Vision





  • Define an actionable portfolio strategy and roadmap prioritized by measurable client and business outcomes.


  • Build and maintain relationships with First Command business leaders to align platform strategy with business strategy.


  • Oversee and provide input into the process for creating, documenting, and communicating roadmaps.


  • Encourage customer-focused innovation and provide guidance and oversight for market and customer research to gather insight and understand user personas and


  • Evaluate emerging technologies and relevant innovative propositions to identify new opportunities.


  • Oversee the gathering of competitive intelligence and perform competitive analysis.


  • Initiate or manage partnerships with upstream and customer development partners as needed.




 

Proposition Development and Delivery





  • Oversee the creation and presentation of business cases for digital products and related opportunities.


  • Ensure product managers document product requirements, user stories, and necessary artifacts for the product development process.Coordinate with product development


  • management on the development process and technical resource allocation.


  • Oversee activities to ensure new offerings include desired capabilities and launch on time and within budget.


  • Oversee the process of creating prototypes and testing product concepts.


  • Verify the readiness and completion of products and related elements.


  • Collaborate with First Command functional leaders (e.g. Training, Adoption, Change-Management, Marketing, etc.) and subject matter experts to ensure features are released in a business-ready and timely manner.


  • Provide support to sales and marketing to agree on business-building tactics, activities, and targets and to ensure that value proposition and messaging are clear.


  • Oversee and enforce a consistent, objective process to prioritize and select product enhancements.




 

Portfolio Management and Measurement





  • Ensure product managers follow a consistent approach to monitoring product adoption, collecting customer feedback, and tracking usage.


  • Monitor and report on the performance of the product portfolio.


  • Assist in managing and resolving customer escalations as needed


  • Utilize an evidence-based method for Portfolio decision-making including but not limited to opportunity prioritization and client understanding.


  • Be accountable for capturing identified value propositions in the business case and portfolio roadmap.


  • Be accountable and responsible for portfolio metrics, including commercial and noncommercial goals through continuous monitoring and measurement.


  • Be accountable for client experience and satisfaction metrics through continuous monitoring and measurement.

What skills/qualifications do you need? 

 

Education





  • Bachelor’s degree required (may consider experience in lieu of degree)


  • Master’s degree preferred




 

Work Experience





  • Five to 10 years of product and/or project management experience in progressively more challenging roles as an individual contributor.


  • Formal experience managing direct reports.


  • Related Financial Services industry experience, including an understanding of industry digital trends and technology stacks.


  • Five years of delivery experience with Salesforce platform and associated capabilities for Experience Cloud, Service Cloud, Financial Services Cloud, and Marketing Cloud.


  • Product management experience, including going through a full product lifecycle (from launch to maturity).


  • Previous experience in technical product development is desirable.


  • Related technology background is desirable, particularly in the area of digital experience platforms and web and mobile technologies.


  • Agile and/or Scaled-Agile (SAFe) experience.




 

Certifications

The preferred candidate will have one or more certifications in the following areas:
