Primary Purpose
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Answers telephone and radio inquiries from field supervisors and crews and arranges for solution of job site problems. Contacts government agencies, other utilities, contractors, customers and personnel in other departments to coordinate work and to handle complaints and requests. Receives calls from customers and contractors regarding work progress, service dates, etc. Makes commitments for the installation of service in the absence of supervisor. Prepares daily work location sheets, distributes meter and job orders, keeps records of construction progress, and determines the availability of special tools and equipment required for the performance of the work. Verifies Company and contractor daily work reports and makes corrections when necessary. Prepares time report for service center operating field and office personnel. Maintains vacation schedule, weekly summaries of overtime and absence, and weekly call-in rosters. Orders supplies and materials from the central warehouse via a PC. Verifies that sufficient quantities are in stock to perform scheduled construction. Prepares store orders, hauling orders, shop orders and store credits. Keeps stationery and office supplies inventoried. Acts as custodian for office records. Maintains records for medical absences, occupational injuries and illness. Coordinates medical absence records with the Environmental, Health & Safety Department. Reviews, checks and corrects for procedural completeness of all jobs reported completed in the field. Forwards related paperwork to proper destination. Maintains files of various job reports and records. Performs input and audits of work management computer systems. Operates video display terminal, personal computer, and other office machines. Required to work during emergencies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience: Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent Over two years of related work experience or equivalent combination of formal education/training and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge: Basic knowledge of distribution systems, materials, tools, and construction standards. Basic knowledge of computer systems, including, Asset Suite 8, Documentum, GIS, and Mobile Maps. Skills/Abilities: Demonstrated ability to interpret maps and perform a variety of clerical functions according to established procedures. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively. Ability to operate a personal computer. Satisfactory completion of the Clerical Testing Battery. Demonstrated ability to write, speak, read, comprehend and communicate clearly and accurately in the English language. Must be willing and able to work overtime on a regular basis and must be available for callout overtime, if and when required, consistent with the Labor Agreement.
