Position Summary: The Capital Projects Quality Lead Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the continuous improvement in the execution of capital projects, by implementing and maintaining a robust quality management system. This individual will be responsible for tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) and quality assurance activities, documenting lessons learned, and monitoring the cost of quality across a portfolio of projects. This role requires strong data management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with project teams and contractors.

The candidate will be based at our corporate headquarters in Houston, TX. This will be a hybrid role working 4 days a week in the office, with Friday’s a work from home day.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive quality tracking and reporting system to monitor project quality KPIs, assurance activities (audits and reviews), project learnings, unplanned events/non-conformances, and cost of quality.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure active participation in the quality management system and timely submission of required documentation from project teams and contractors.
  • Establish and manage a system for tracking the status and close-out of quality issues and corrective actions, providing clear visibility into progress and trends.
  • Work closely with project teams to ensure all quality-related documentation is properly collected, organized, and archived in accordance with company standards and industry best practices.
  • Generate regular (e.g., monthly) reports on project quality performance, identifying trends, areas of concern, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Proactively communicate with the Director of Quality regarding critical quality issues, risks, and potential impacts to project objectives.
  • Participate in audits of contractor quality tracking and reporting systems to ensure compliance with project requirements and company standards.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of quality management processes and tools within the PMO.
  • Other job duties as may be assigned from time to time.


Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in quality assurance or project controls within the engineering and construction industry
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and database/data management software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively convey complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating potential quality risks.
  • Experience with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) is a plus.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
