40Summary:
The dedicated Cardiac Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) whose primary function is to provide high quality, evidence based, specialized cardiac anesthesia to the patient population including pediatric and adult congenital heart defect (CHD) patients. The CRNA practices in collaboration with and under the medical direction of an Anesthesiologist. Participates in education related to CHD and associated anesthetic considerations and management. Part of a small dedicated team that has a high call burden, works a variable schedule, and does not have a guaranteed end of shift time. During a sustained period of inequality between cardiac CRNA availability and cardiac anesthesia need, the CRNAs will be available to cross cover non-cardiac anesthesia cases. At a minimum this CRNA has one-year pediatric anesthesia experience, with a year of previous cardiac anesthesia preferred.
Education/Experience:
Graduate of an approved accredited school of Nurse Anesthesia; Masters of Science in Nursing or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required.
Licensure/Certification:
Texas professional Registered Nurse license and Advance Practice Nurse License. Recognition from the State Board of Nurse Examiners as an Advanced Practice Nurse. Certified or re-certified as a Registered Nurse Anesthetist. Basic Life Support (CPR), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required.
