Job Summary
Auburn Advancement is excited to begin the search for an Advancement Events and Experience Specialist to join our engagement team! In this position, you will help design and execute exceptional events that strengthen relationships, inspire engagement, and enhance the Auburn experience for alumni, donors, and friends.
What You'll Do:
- Plan with Precision: Lead and support execution of events including, but not limited to, reunions, tailgates, awards ceremonies, professional development trainings, board of directors meetings, and other internal and external advancement experiences. Collaborate with colleagues to develop experiences that meet Advancement's strategic goals and create lasting memories for participants.
- Champion Engagement: Build and maintain beneficial relationships and identify opportunities for meaningful collaboration within and across the enterprise. Serves as primary point of contact and subject matter expert for events and event-related discussions.
- Optimize Operations: Oversee event-related activities such as selecting speakers, negotiating contractual obligations for resources, set-up. and logistical considerations. Manage event budgets by monitoring expenditures, reconciling transactions, and providing budget status reports. Complete operational tasks such as coordinating activities, managing meetings, and ensuring all event details are executed flawlessly.
- Evaluate and Innovate: Consistently evaluate events by analyzing data, creating insightful reports, and identifying opportunities for improvement. Work with the Director to assess program success and adjust strategies to enhance future events and experiences.

Essential Functions
Your Responsibilities as an Advancement Events and Experience Specialist:
- Purpose:
- Assist in administering events and programs that align with Auburn University Advancement's mission and strategic objectives.
- Ensure projects operate within specifications and deliver meaningful outcomes for alumni, donors, and stakeholders.
- Collaboration:
- Build relationships across Advancement units to support effective communication, share updates, and achieve event goals.
- Partner with marketing teams to ensure internal communications and promotional timelines are met for assigned programs.
- Innovation:
- Analyze event data to support development strategies and improve program effectiveness.
- Identify creative opportunities for meaningful collaboration and elevate the guest experience at every event.
- Production:
- Manage day-to-day operational tasks, including coordinating speakers and vendors, monitoring budgets, and organizing logistics.
- Maintain accurate records of donor engagement and event participation while safeguarding sensitive information.
Minimum Qualifications

Level I - Bachelor's degree plus 2 years of experience in event or program coordination or management.
Level II - Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of experience in event or program coordination or management.

Auburn University was established in 1856 as the East Alabama Male College, 20 years after the city of Auburn's founding. In 1872, under the Morrill Act, the school became the first land-grant college in the South and was renamed the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama. In 1899 the name again was changed, to the Alabama Polytechnic Institute. Finally, in 1960 the name of the school was changed to Auburn University, a title more in keeping with its location, and expressing the varied academic programs and larger curriculum of a major university.
