Summary:

The Security Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the Partnership's Security Operations Center (SOC) and emergency response efforts. This position requires a highly skilled professional with expertise in physical security systems, emergency preparedness, and open-source information gathering. The Security Specialist will build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, design and participate in emergency response training and drills, and support comprehensive risk mitigation and resilience efforts. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure and work independently or within a team. Through a blend of technical expertise, strategic planning, and hands-on operational support, the Security Specialist helps ensure the Partnership's overall security and preparedness objectives are achieved.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Create, maintain, and leverage working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels to achieve security objectives.
  • Utilize strong writing, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills to ensure accurate documentation and clear guidance.
  • Provide daily support to the SOC, assisting with ongoing monitoring, response, documentation, and other operational activities as needed
  • Plan, develop, and conduct emergency response training, drills, and exercises to enhance departmental integration, preparedness, and response capabilities.
  • Facilitate communication, collaboration, and coordination during Emergency Operations Center activations, ensuring an effective response to and recovery from disruptions.
  • Assist in the development, maintenance, and implementation of the Security department resiliency functions, including business continuity plans and related procedures.
  • Monitor global risk and security alerts to identify emerging threats, assess their potential impact, and track situation developments that support the ongoing safety and security of Partnership personnel, operations, and assets at home and abroad.
  • Conduct online research to identify threats to the Partnership's brand, personnel, or infrastructure using background checks, open-source databases, and social media platforms.

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Experience using mass communication tools (e.g., Everbridge) is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with open-source information collection tools and research techniques.
  • Strong analytical abilities to support independent, effective decision-making.
  • Working knowledge of security operations, procedures, and 24x7 monitoring center functions.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including accurate spelling and grammar.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and various physical security applications.
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently and navigate a matrixed organization effectively.
  • Resilience under pressure in a fast-paced environment and the ability to make sound judgments based on limited data.
  • Willingness to work overtime and respond to emergencies (including evenings, weekends, and holidays) as operational needs arise.
  • Strong attention to detail, follow-through, and the ability to multi-task with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of relevant physical/technical security experience.
  • Familiarity with physical security practices, emergency management, transportation systems security, and related communication systems.
  • ASIS Associate Protection Professional (APP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP) certification preferred.
Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:
  • The Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 2-5 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Senior Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 5-8 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Lead Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 8+ years of relevant job related experience

Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
  • Usually, normal office working conditions.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
