Employment Type: Permanent Staff (EHRA NF) Vacancy ID: NF0008798 Salary Range: $71,819 - $85,000 Position Summary/Description: The Employee Performance & Development (EP&D) Consultant plays a pivotal role in providing expert guidance on EHRA and SHRA employee and management relations, performance management, and employee development initiatives. Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Human Resources, this position collaborates extensively with College leadership and key campus units such as Employee and Management Relations (E&MR), Equal Opportunity & Compliance ( EOC ), Organizational and Professional Development ( OPD ), the Office of Faculty Affairs ( OFA ), and others. The consultant's responsibilities include advising on and coordinating performance management processes, supporting professional development, and addressing employee relations issues by implementing strategic interventions. They ensure proactive resolution of workplace concerns and deliver guidance rooted in best practices while interpreting applicable federal, state, and university policies and laws. The EP&D Consultant will also develop and recommend strategies to resolve a variety of personal and work-related challenges. Additionally, they will provide training and counsel to College staff on employee performance and relations topics, fostering an environment of growth, accountability, and effective problem-solving. Education and Experience: Prior experience in a higher education setting is highly preferred. Experience in Human Resources, with a focus on professional development, employee and management relations, and demonstrated experience in conflict resolution, negotiation, and HR policy interpretation. Prior experience with HR systems is preferred. Essential Skills: This position requires considerable knowledge of the rules, regulations, and policies relating to UNC -Chapel Hill human resources, state of North Carolina and Federal guidelines. This role requires a high level of detail and organization, professionalism and discretion, ability to multi-task and prioritize work, and excellent customer service skills. Candidates must exhibit the ability to work effectively and diplomatically with a wide range of people including University administrators, faculty, staff, and students. Candidates must possess strong communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills, and have the capacity to inspire confidence. Articulate a customer service-focused approach to problem-solving, have excellent computer skills with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products (including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), and possess the ability to work independently on multiple HR-related functions. The selected candidate will take initiative and continuously review policies and procedures to identify areas for improvement. The candidate will have a demonstrated ability to adapt easily, follow through, complete tasks, and resolve issues independently.
