Part-Time RISE Transfer Counselor
Campus Location: Lynn
Work Schedule: 20 hours a week, Monday-Friday 9 am to 1 or 10 am to 2 pm
Non-benefited, Grant-funded, MCCC unit position
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The part-time RISE (Realizing & Inspiring Student Excellence) Transfer Counselor will promote a culture and climate that positively presents and educates students concerning transfer options and opportunities for students in the RISE program. The Transfer Counselor will conduct individual and group transfer advising sessions, deliver educational workshops, monitor pre-transfer goal attainment and program alignment, and assist students in accessing supportive internal and external resources to support their transfer goals. The ideal candidate will be committed to working with a diverse population of students, an adept communicator and presenter, and passionate about the mission of NSCC and RISE.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Serve as a member of the RISE team, collaborating with team members on all relevant aspects of the program, including but not limited to student programming, student tracking, data collection and analysis, and compliance reporting;
- Deliver comprehensive transfer advising to RISE students in individual and group sessions;
- Collaborate with Faculty to deliver transfer information sessions to students across all academic divisions of the college;
- Provide developing transfer students with information about transfer scholarships, credit mobility & alignment and financial aid/incentives;
- Create, develop, and deliver transfer workshops to RISE and the general NSCC student community;
- Utilize technology to assist students in understanding their academic/career trajectory in the context of transfer options and opportunities;
- Maintain documentation concerning interactions with all students, including but not limited to one-on-one interactions, group interactions, and programming;
- Serve as a subject matter expert to students exploring an array of transfer options, including working knowledge of NSCC articulation agreements, MassTransfer, Massachusetts Guarantee, in/out-of-state policy, and competitive candidacy to high demand programs/institutions;
- Engage in campus-based programming such as orientation, professional development, open house, etc.;
- Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:
- Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or closely related field; with five (5) years experience and/or training that includes academic advisement, career counseling, student assessment, workshops/seminar coordination, and project management; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Experience working in a diverse environment and/or with a diverse student population
- Commitment to student learning and development
- Excellent organizational, administrative, and information technology skills
- Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or National background check as a condition of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action and workforce diversity
- Experience or interest in the community college setting
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with faculty, students, & staff
- Ability to address sensitive topics such as academic preparation, academic standing, and realistic expectations for transfer opportunities
- Verbal and written proficiency in Spanish

SALARY: $35.31/hour, non-benefited, grant-funded
