What We Do At the SEI AI Division, we conduct research in applied artificial intelligence and the engineering questions related to the practical design and implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies and systems. We currently lead a community-wide movement to mature the discipline of AI Engineering for Defense and National Security. As our government customers adopt AI and machine learning (ML) to provide leap-ahead mission capabilities, we: build real-world, mission-scale AI capabilities through solving practical engineering problems. discover and define the processes, practices, and tools to support operationalizing AI for robust, secure, scalable, and human-centered mission capabilities. prepare our customers to be ready for the unique challenges of adopting, deploying, using, and maintaining AI capabilities. identify and investigate emerging AI and AI-adjacent technologies that are rapidly transforming the technology landscape. Position Summary As a strategic communications intern in the SEI AI Division, you will work to develop materials and messaging that promote and publicize our work to advance the discipline of AI E ngineering and build AI mission solutions. Y ou will collaborate with business developers and project managers , as well as subject matter experts in AI research, engineering, and development . Duties Collaborate with researchers to write blog posts and other published materials about their work, and with communications staff in other parts of the SEI to disseminate those materials. Contribute to the AI Division's goal of building a community around the discipline of AI Engineering by advising on communications, content, and events. Develop communication materials , including fact sheets, presentations, and overviews of research projects. Requirements Currently enrolled in a communications-focused bachelor's or master's degree program, with availability to work during summer 2025 Able to work onsite at our office in Pittsburgh You will be subject to a background check investigation.
