FINANCIAL COORDINATOR 2 , Center for Transportation and Logistics , will administer the pre- and/or post-award financial activities related to the daily operation for the department, resolve moderately complex issues and advise on matters pertaining to financial activities; perform diverse financial duties such as preparing, reviewing, and submitting budgets, reviewing monthly accounts, and preparing and analyzing financial reports for multiple accounts or projects; administer pre- and post-award sponsored activities and provide 'cradle to grave' contract/grant and financial management for faculty and principal investigators (PIs); administer all pre-award activities including, but not limited to, reviewing solicitations, proposal and budget development, and proposal submission to central RAS (Research Administration Services) and OSATT (Office of Strategic Alliances and Technology Transfer).
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree; a minimum of three years accounting and finance experience; full working knowledge of job responsibilities, procedures and practices; robust analytical, organizational, and communication and computer skills; ability to take initiative to implement and/or improve established financial processes in support of operational area; knowledge of SAP; be a team player; integrity, robust work ethic, reliability and responsibility; ability to receive and give critical and constructive feedback, be flexible, have self-discipline, demonstrate critical thinking skills, and demonstrate intellectual curiosity and a willingness to learn. PREFERRED: Relational database skills, Brio Query, QuickBooks, Salesforce and/or Cognos; accounting and finance experience in an academic/research environment, preferably at MIT; excellent organizational, and interpersonal skills; robust written and verbal communication skills; mature judgment in handling confidential matters; enjoy interacting with and assisting students, faculty, administrators, and visitors with culturally and professionally diverse backgrounds; or be a team player with ability to work efficiently with frequent interruptions.
