Energy Storage-Electrical Manager I - Military Veterans

SUMMARY:

Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Electrical Manager I responsible for providing project management and design leadership, as well as effective customer relationship management with new and existing customers for our Energy Storage Group. Support our continued growth by aiding in the development, roll-out, and execution of early-stage Energy Solutions planning and development service offerings and leading the commissioning team during the construction of energy storage installations.

50/50 split Road (Field) & Design

Locations Include: MN, AZ, TX, CA, CO

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide technical electrical support

  • Review design documents to ensure conformance with contract expectations, noting and resolving issues or conflicts that could impact installation or other trades involved with the project
  • Review contractual testing, commissioning, and turnover requirements.
  • Understanding of PPA and Interconnection testing and turnover requirements.
  • Assemble plan and schedule for onsite testing and commissioning services.
  • Supervise and ensure quality control of the work team, including self-performed and subcontracted work
  • Develop standard bid packages for 3rd party testing services.
  • Interface with other departments to ensure all required materials, equipment, and inspections support the project schedule
  • Work with Project Manager(s)/Electrical Managers to budget, forecast, and manage craft labor, equipment, materials, small tools, consumables, and the general working environment
  • Manage the interface with appropriate personnel concerned with the connection of the project power grid to the existing distribution system
  • Review construction documents for completeness and constructability
  • Support the creation, review, and update project schedule and 3-week look ahead scheduling
  • Coordinate plans and specifications with engineers, identifying and clarifying any discrepancies
  • Develop and implement a site utilization plan and establish crew sizes
  • Conduct effective pre-construction planning sessions and project site meetings
  • Ensure correct implementation of the Mortenson Project Quality Plan (PQP) and assist in the development and updating of the project control logs and QC documentation; assist with the development of electrical Standard Work Instructions (SWIs)

Provide onsite support to the electrical team
  • Lead electrical personnel on the project site.
  • Coach, mentor, and train field personnel, forepersons, and superintendents
  • Establish and nurture a teamwork environment
  • Ensure crews have resources and support
  • Provide work direction and performance evaluations
  • Identify hiring needs and participate in hiring, discipline, and dismissal decisions if needed
  • Develop leadership potential through appropriate task assignments and career growth opportunities
  • Implement Mortenson's Zero Injury Safety Program at the project site
  • Manage open shop and union issues

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent field experience
  • Minimum eight years of electrical construction management and/or commissioning experience.
  • Proficiency in low, medium, and high-voltage technical knowledge
  • Specialized knowledge/experience in the area of electrical DC systems, low voltage AC systems, controls, and substations
  • Current driver's license

The base compensation range for this role is: $122,600 - $183,900 (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%)

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skill, and experience with consideration given to internal equity.
