Security Engineer III - Military Veterans

JOB SCOPE
Responsible for the software development and analytical advancement of the applications, tools and systems used to monitor, identify, and alert on vulnerabilities to drive business strategy and remediation activities. Provides SQL/R/Python programming, under general direction, in the execution of data analysis that will contribute to the final project deliverables. Maintains deep knowledge of cyber security data sets and ability to discern data quality, value and lift to support measuring cyber security risk. Works closely with engineering and technical operations staff to design, develop, modify, enhance, and implement software systems designed to support security applications and software.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Enhance, develop, and test software in Python, SQL, and other suitable programming technologies.
- Basic understanding of a software development lifecycle, scripting languages, as well as public and private cloud environments.
- Codes and performs unit and integration testing of software to ensure proper and efficient execution and adherence to business and technical requirements.
- Codes, tests, and debugs new software or makes enhancements to existing software.
- Designs and writes programs according to functional and non-functional requirements.
- Able to work with applications, platforms, and vendors to on-board large cyber security data sets at scale via API’s.
- Experience building data sets to support decision making on cyber security including identifying valuable data elements for collection, assembling data into databases, classifying data into industry standard taxonomies, and determining the best methods for blending collected data points to drive decision making.
- Design, implement and improve vulnerability KPI reporting and analytical capabilities across different technologies that drive reduction in the risk to the business.
- Familiarity with code versioning tools, like Git, SVN, and Bitbucket.
- Ensures compliance with security standards, policies, and procedures.
- Adheres to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable.
BASIC / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or related field or equivalent experience
Minimum five (5) years of IT/network experience
Minimum five (5) years of Information security experience
Minimum three (3) years of Information security operations experience
ADDITIONAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, Word, Visio, and Power Point with the ability to document, prepare and present data driven summaries.
- Strong knowledge of scripting languages and techniques associated with cyber data analytics, including a comprehensive knowledge of Bash, Python, R, and SQL.
- Experience in cyber data analytics with supporting and driving data science, analytics, and modeling efforts.
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP and advanced host and network security administrative and technical controls.
- Demonstrated capabilities with the ability to work across functional boundaries, build consensus and drive results.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and should have good presentation skills.
- Must be a problem solver, able to balance competing priorities, have a strong process orientation and be able to manage through complexity and rapid change.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in a security operations support role for vulnerability analytics or similar
- Experience with scanning tools such as: Qualys, Tenable, Veracode, PrismaCloud, etc.
- Current security certifications, such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CEH, and SANS GIAC.

The base pay for this position generally is between $78,900.00 and $139,500.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
