CAREER OPPORTUNITY:

The Reliability Superintendent drives continuous reliability improvement for the fully integrated paper mill in West Point Virginia. The mill produces white top liner board and medium paper on three paper machines with other major assets supporting their operation. This position reports directly to the Maintenance Manager.

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT SMURFIT WESTROCK:

  • Establishes and manages systems, processes, and personnel plans for the reliability group to advance reliability and improve overall equipment effectiveness throughout the mill.
  • Builds a reliability vision for the mill and executes a multi-year improvement plan.
  • Manages the reliability team and leads the overall reliability improvement effort of the plant. Responsibilities include leading the mill for: RCFA, failure analysis, predictive maintenance, lubrication, precision maintenance and PV&T program.
  • Provides technical expertise for troubleshooting and problem solving. Evaluates innovative technologies and techniques for plant improvement.
  • Develops and prioritizes plant reliability opportunity lists, leads process improvement projects, and sets the expectation for the plant and departments in reliability.
  • Creates, manages, and optimizes the plant preventative and predictive maintenance program (vibration analysis, ultrasound, thermal imaging, motor circuit analysis, oil sampling) and leading design for reliability on capital improvement projects.
  • Trains area personnel in key mill reliability techniques (Bad Actor Analysis, Equipment Strategy Development, Root Cause Analysis, Reliability Fundamentals). These include processes and guidelines developed within the Engineering Manufacturing Services (EMS)
  • Develops and monitors Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to determine the value of the mill reliability effort.
  • Provides leadership in implementing and maintaining preventive and predictive maintenance programs
  • Manages oversight of the mill lubrication efforts.
  • Manages oversight of the mill tank integrity and safety relief valve programs.
  • Drives the precision maintenance program.
  • Promotes a reliability-centric focus at all levels of the mill
  • Key Position Requirements
  • Enforces a safe work environment and ensures mill personnel are practicing safe work practices.
  • Creates an environment of respect and trust for our co-workers and customers
  • Possesses the ability to work with all levels of the organization
  • Possesses excellent communication skills (written or verbal)

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in a manufacturing role required.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering preferred.
  • Proven Leadership skills in developing strategies to attain performance objectives required.
  • Experience using Reliability tools such as Pareto analysis, Failure Modes, and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) preferred.
  • Experience working with advanced Predictive Maintenance tools such as Infrared, Vibration, Oil, and Ultrasonic analysis, shaft and machine alignment, and precision maintenance preferred.
  • Subject matter expert in precision maintenance practices, vibration analysis and lubrication best practices.
