Location: West Barnstable, MA Category: Staff Positions Posted On: Mon Dec 23 2024 Job Description: GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES: The Wellness Coach/Chaplain provides spiritual care, counseling, and guidance to students, fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment that respects diverse faiths, beliefs, and worldviews. The Coach/Chaplain works collaboratively with the campus community to address spiritual needs, support student well-being, and promote interfaith dialogue and understanding. Position will be filled for the Spring 2025 semester. Schedule will include 6 hours over 2 to 3 days per week (Monday, Tuesday, and/or Wednesday), between the hours of 8:30am-4:30pm. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Provide individual and group spiritual counseling to students of all faiths or no faith. Offer guidance on personal, academic, and professional challenges from a spiritual perspective. Respond to crises, offering pastoral care and support during emergencies. Plan and facilitate interfaith dialogues, workshops, and events to promote a culture of care and compassion, religious literacy and mutual respect. Build relationships with local religious and spiritual leaders to connect students with external faith communities. Create safe spaces for spiritual exploration and expression. Develop and lead initiatives that address ethical, moral, and social justice issues relevant to the campus community. Organize spiritual retreats, holiday observances, and wellness programs. Serve as a visible presence on campus, attending college events and engaging with the community. Collaborate with Wellness Promotion and Services Department and other campus support services to enhance holistic student development. Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with institutional policies and ethical standards. Consult with Chief Wellness Officer and Program Coordinator to integrate spiritual wellness into overall well-being. Prepare reports and assessments on chaplaincy activities and outcomes. Job Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Bachelor's degree in Divinity, Theology, Religious Studies, or a related field plus three years' experience in a community college setting in pastoral or spiritual advising. Ordination or equivalent from a recognized spiritual or religious organization. Demonstrated experience in pastoral care, counseling, or campus ministry in a community college setting. Ability to engage with students from various religious or spiritual backgrounds using strong interpersonal and communication skills. Commitment to inclusivity and the ability to navigate multi-faith or non-faith environments sensitively. Experience in crisis intervention and spiritual care. Program development, leadership, and organizational skills. ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in Divinity, Theology, Religious Studies, or a related field. Familiarity with issues affecting community college students, including first-generation, non-traditional, and underrepresented populations. Knowledge of mental health resources and integration with spiritual care. A warm and approachable demeanor, with the ability to inspire trust and build connections. Additional Information: COMPENSATION : Anticipated starting pay rate of $35.31 per hour for up to 6 hours per week. Part-time, non-benefited, MCCC Unit Position.
