Job Summary and Qualifications

To improve patient preparedness for treatment by providing education and supportive care for diagnostic procedures. To facilitate interaction between patients, physicians and nursing team with logistical support for imaging procedures. Become knowledgeable with imaging procedures in CT, MRI, and US and X-ray modalities.

What you will do in this role:

• Interact with departments associated with imaging procedures
• Provide patient with post procedure information as requested
• Become knowledgeable with Meditech, PACS and scheduling module
• Work closely with radiologist and nursing to ensure all pre-procedural items are completed
• Liaison for ordering physician to radiologist for patient procedural questions or concerns
• Schedule as needed with pharmacy specialty medications required such as chemotherapy
• Navigate breast biopsy procedures
• Upload outside imaging discs to PACS network
• Ensure schedule is prepared for next day’s procedures
• Patient transport as necessary
• Obtain patient orders for procedure requested by referring physician
• Obtain any outside imaging / lab work as needed
• Request medical history pertinent to procedure
• Review case with Imaging nurse to ensure no contraindications
• Provide radiologist with procedure information for approval
• Call patient or provider with potential appointment times
• Schedule patient in imaging and surgical schedule as needed
• Print document for chart, have physician sign and then fax preop op orders to preadmit testing
• Communicate to patient details for arrival day of procedure
• Schedule procedures within the Meditech System

What qualifications you will need:

• Experience in MRI procedures and other associated imaging procedures including patient navigation. Must exhibit excellent customer service skills
• Knowledgeable in the environment and systems (including PAS, HIM, Scheduling, Electronic Medical Records and PACS)
