Job Summary
Manages the daily maintenance operations of a 200 room NEXCOM Hospitality Group NHG property.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for developing organizing coordinating executing and supervising a comprehensive maintenance repair and renovation program at the site level. Provide input for short and long-range planning.
- Utilizes the Property Management System PMS to access guest room information and status retrieve occupancy data and maintain out of order out or inventory guest room requirements.
- Plans and schedules ongoing production-oriented work for all maintenance personnel on daily weekly monthly and quarterly basis adjusting staff levels as required to meet workload demand.
- Performs various maintenance related work associated with assigned NHG Buildings. Coordinates with Public Works NAVFAC planners and outside organizations conducting maintenance related work in NHG facilities.
- Performs inspections of all facilities and common areas. Conducts other inspections with management Command Regional or NHG staff as requested. Follows up on all corrective actions in a timely manner to ensure completion and guest satisfaction.
- Responsible for compliance with standard operating procedures safety requirements formal and on-the-job training of the maintenance staff and inventory maintenance of all tools and equipment. Ensures maintenance operates in accordance with established instructions and procedures.
- Responsible for all maintenance supervisory related actions which include preparing briefing on facilities preparing evaluations and NAVPERS request for Actions coordinating interviews for maintenance laborer and grounds keeping staff preparing cost estimates for in-house self-help projects and evaluating cost estimates for contractors proposals working within NHG funded by Non-Appropriated Funds.
- May supervise various positions to include Maintenance Supervisor Maintenance Mechanic Maintenance Worker Groundskeeper and Motor Vehicle Operator. Conducts counseling and evaluations ensures required training is complete and recommends awards to supervisor. Participates in approving and or recommending leave ensuring that schedules are set to meet all program requirements.
- Handles staff suggestions and complaints in a tactful and diplomatic manner referring difficult and or unusual situations to the management. - Ensures that EEO concepts are applied and an appropriate work environment is maintained.
- Ensures security of all guests is maintained at all times.
- Ensures guest privacy is maintained at all times.
Requirements
GENERAL EXPERIENCE Three years of experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of general maintenance practices involving the upkeep of buildings grounds fixtures equipment etc.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE One year of high school education may be substituted for 3 months of general experience up to a High School Diploma or GED for one year of general experience.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE One year of general maintenance work involving a variety of trade practices associated with such occupations as air conditioning and refrigeration electrical work plumbing carpentry masonry painting etc. Including knowledge of safety and environmental rules and regulations concerning procedures tools mechanical and electrified equipment chemicals and basic safe work practices supervision of human resources.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Standing stooping bending kneeling climbing and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries material weighing up to 50 pounds. A recognized professional certification or license in one trade plumbing HVAC electrical carpentry or painting trade is preferred.

With the exception of the Ships Store Program, the NEXCOM Enterprise conducts its operations as a federal non-appropriated funded instrumentality. As such, the command is self-supporting with 70 percent of its profits given to Navy Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) programs and the remaining 30 percent reinvested in NEX buildings and equipment.
NEXCOM is a military organization and is subject to congressional legislation as well as oversight from the Department of the Navy. NEXCOM’s parent command is the Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP).
