Position Summary This position provides specialized support on information technology equipment and systems for the business, research, and instructional functions of customers.
Position involves the advanced use of software and/or hardware tools to provide ongoing services, and responsibilities require expertise with core infrastructure elements and how they interrelate to provide a cohesive computing environment.
Position may be more broadly based, requiring knowledge regarding installation, and modification of software and hardware, testing, and documentation on a variety of platforms, or may be singularly focused, requiring specialized skills as systems architect in a larger, more standardized platform.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Communicate features to prospective and existing users
- Assist in conducting workshops on foundational knowledge and techniques for running computational studies.
- Directly assist individual students and clinical researchers in configuring and running AI models for radiology studies on the RCIF
- Provide support and troubleshooting for Jupyter notebooks and Python, including setup and basic debugging on the RCIF CHPC infrastructure.
- Offer guidance on using PyTorch, TensorFlow, and general deep learning techniques in medical imaging contexts.
- Collaborate on DICOM/image processing and segmentation tasks as needed.
- Gathers customer information and determines customer's issue by analyzing the symptoms and identifying/resolving the underlying problem.
- Identifies what customer is trying to accomplish so time is not wasted on âœattempting to solve a symptom instead of a problemâ .
- Escalates complex issues to higher level when necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
For Large Environment with Dedicated System Support Specialists
- Assists System Manager in maintaining system performance, system security, hardware/software utilities, capacity planning and balancing operation cycles.
- Participates in the development, implementation, installation and testing of application or service software.
- Writes documentation to describe system development, deployment, life cycle; writes corrections for users to describe installations and operating procedures.
- Conducts system administration tasks as assigned.
- Trains technical support staff.
- Performs special projects as assigned.
For Department-Level Environment with Combined Responsibilities
- Ensures technology environment is accessible and equipped with current hardware and software; primary activities include:
- Troubleshoots hardware, software and network operation system.
- Understand all hardware and software.
- Understand network operation system.
- Provides orientation to new users of existing technology.
- Provides recommendations about accessing information and support.
- Maintains current and accurate inventory of technology hardware, software and resources.
- Monitors and maintains technology to ensure maximum access.
- Troubleshoots all technology issues.
- Maintains log and/or list of required repairs and maintenance.
- Makes recommendations about purchase of technology resources.
- Connects and sets up hardware.
- Loads all required software.
- Provides network accounts and passwords as required.
- Advises staff of security breach and/or change in password or security status.
- Identifies and prepares hardware for disposal when appropriate.
- Ensures hardware is properly formatted and secure before disposal.

We are looking for an enthusiastic mid-level computational research support specialist to assist students and clinical users in setting up and supporting radiology studies, including AI-enabled studies. This role involves hands-on support with setting up and troubleshooting Jupyter notebooks and Python code as well as guiding users on deep learning workflows in radiology.Â
This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with cutting-edge AI tools and contribute to impactful medical research on the Research Computing and Informatics Facility (RCIF) Center for High-Performance Computing (CHPC) infrastructure.

Salary Range $53,100.00 - $90,600.00 / Annually
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
