Requisition Number: S_241203 Department: College of Architecture-0896 Description of Work: The Assistant to the Dean is responsible for providing a wide range of skilled and efficient administrative and executive support for the Dean. This position will exercise a high degree of discretion and judgment and will work both independently and as a member of the administrative support team in the Dean's Office. The Assistant supervises student workers in the Dean's Office. Key responsibilities include managing the Dean's calendar, coordinating travel arrangements for the dean, scheduling meetings for Directors and other personnel, and serving as the point of contact for Chairs and Directors transitions. This position ensures that the Dean remains on schedule. The role involves managing tenure & promotion files and acting as the liaison with the NU Alumni Association and NU Foundation. Responsibilities also include general support for college leadership and faculty communication, assistance with faculty, staff, and student travel, management of event procurement and logistics, and liaison and communication with other university partners and college stakeholders. Additionally, the Assistant will screen callers and visitors as appropriate. Minimum Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant administrative experience in increasingly responsible positions required. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Experience must demonstrate excellent organizational, interpersonal, public relations, and written and oral communications skills. Working knowledge of general office practices and office equipment is necessary. Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation computer software programs and internet research skills are essential. Demonstrate strong problem solving, decision making, and planning skills and the ability to work independently as necessary. Preferred Qualifications: Ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders. Proficient in making routine decisions and advising Deans as appropriate. Possesses working knowledge of College of Architecture and/or University of Nebraska system. Project coordination experience. Detail-oriented and accurate, strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and work independently within established procedures. Ability to work well with all levels of administration and staff, as well as outside clients and stakeholders. Ability to develop issue/program awareness, anticipate needs, identify potential problems, recognize implications, evaluate priorities, and gather relevant information.
