COORDINATOR ALUMNI & STUDENT CAREER RELATIONS
The Career Center is seeking a dynamic individual for the role of Coordinator of Alumni & Student Career Relations. This unique position involves planning, coordinating, and executing strategies to foster alumni and student-employer relationships. The successful candidate will serve as a valuable resource and liaison and will have the crucial responsibility of managing the on-campus student recruiting program. They will also be responsible for analyzing employment and career trend data and making strategic recommendations to leadership. The role requires a deep understanding of institutional policies and procedures relative to programs, faculty, students, and alumni. Additionally, the successful candidate will be instrumental in engaging alumni of all departmental academic programs and securing their support for departmental initiatives concerning professional placement.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute all direct mail, electronic, and web-based communications with Alumni
- Manage the department's LinkedIn and other relevant alumni and career networking platforms
- Capture all relevant Alumni data and maintain the Alumni database
- Coordinate all alumni events, outreach, and employer engagement
- Determine employer needs and manage the logistics of the on-campus recruiting program, including interviews, employer information sessions, and job fairs
- Serve as both a resource and liaison between recruiters and students
- Demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of appropriate university information related to programs, faculty, students, and alumni
- Acquire up-to-date information about appropriate career fields, employment needs/trends, and salaries
- Career Development Programming Plan and conduct workshops on career placement, resume writing, interviewing, and others as assigned
- Design and conduct career development workshops targeting alumni
- Create and maintain communication with alumni
- Support the Employer Relations events and career fairs
- Perform other duties as assigned
Salary Range : $35,000 - $40,000
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Public Relations, Psychology, or Higher Education/Student Affairs and two (2) years of programming, event/community management, or related professional-level experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement
Preferred Additional Qualifications:
Applicants should note that this position requires exceptional communication skills. You will interact extensively with alumni and employers through email and in-person meetings, supporting the Associate Director of Employer Relations. Key responsibilities include addressing employer needs, managing job postings, and developing strategies for on-campus recruitment to attract UAB students and graduates. Success in this role demands strong organizational abilities, adaptability, and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively. Attention to detail and problem-solving skills are critical, particularly in managing high volumes of communication where accuracy and grammatical precision are paramount.
Note: Must be willing to travel to meet with employers and alumni. The ability to work evenings and weekends for events is also needed for this role.
