Position Summary The Research Assistant will be working on research projects in Economics for UCLA Anderson faculty members Kathleen Ngangoue, Kareem Haggag, and Brian Wheaton. The research will be in a variety of fields within Economics (Political Economy, Macroeconomics, Behavioral & Experimental Economics). Tasks will involve conducting literature reviews of published papers in various areas of economics, assisting in the design of experimental research, collecting, or scraping data from webpages and other sources, performing econometric analysis of data, and providing regular status updates on the aforementioned tasks. The Research Assistant will exercise independent judgment, take initiative, and appropriately manage deadlines. Strong quantitative skills and proficiency in Stata, R, and/or Python are required, as is proficiency in oral and written English communication. A Bachelor's degree in a quantitative subject such as Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, or Applied Math is preferred. Candidates with an intention to proceed to graduate study in Economics or a related discipline are preferred. This position requires on-site presence and offers limited remote work opportunities. The Research Assistant will exercise independent judgment and make procedural and research adjustments as needed, take initiative, and appropriately manage deadlines. Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications Strong quantitative skills, proficiency in STATA or R. (Required) Familiarity with experimental research. (Required) Familiarity with the forms and submission procedures to obtain research approvals from the UCLA Institutional Review Board and Office for the Protection of Research Subjects. (Required) Excellent skills in oral and written English communication. (Required) Ability and willingness to work with competing deadlines, meet fixed deadlines, manage multiple assignments, and follow through tasks to completion. (Required) Excellent grades in quantitative coursework (e.g. computer science, math). (Required) Ability to work independently. (Required) Prior research assistant experience. (Preferred) Background in designing and running field and laboratory experiments. (Preferred) Skilled in performing statistical analyses on large databases. (Preferred) Ability to prepare research protocols and manuscripts for publication. (Preferred) Familiarity with Qualtrics. (Preferred) Familiarity with online recruitment platforms (e.g. cloud research or prolific). (Preferred) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's Degree or a degree in a quantitative subject such as Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, or Applied Math is preferred and/or equivalent experience/training.
