General Description Salary: $255k - $285k with a total comp estimated at $334k - $364k Position Description: In addition to mutually agreed upon goals to be developed in partnership with the department director, and the division chief, the assistant professor shall assume the following responsibilities and duties: General Academic and Teaching Expected to devote at least 10% of your time to formal and informal instruction of medical students and pot-graduate trainees in Surgery. Expected to mentor fellows, students, residents, and faculty, participate in resident teaching and education, attend division conferences, participate in national organizations, continue to produce scholarly output, and uphold the code of conduct for faculty. Participate in the department's weekly mortality and morbidity conference, the staff & resident education conference, the Department of Surgery faculty meetings, grand rounds, and he division of transplant faculty meetings. Clinical Clinical service commensurate with your skills in transplant surgery at a clinical commitment of 90% effort. Clinical time will be focused on providing clinical support for transplant surgery, including active participation in quality improvement, outreach, education and professional activities. Provide clinical services primarily at Johns Hopkins Hospital. May be asked to provide clinical services at other locations based on the needs of the department or division. Clinically active kidney transplant surgeon who will provide surgical oversight to evaluation of candidates for kidney transplant, kidney selection meetings, quality improvement and assurance efforts in kidney transplant. Be a consistent presence throughout the spectrum of kidney transplant care and will be a point person for our multidisciplinary team. Help contribute to the ongoing clinical productivity and excellence within the Division of Transplant Surgery. Work with the surgical Director of our Comprehensive Transplant Center, to increase our capacity for moving patients with end stage renal disease through the evaluation process, to placement on the waitlist, and to promote increased utilization of living donor kidney transplant. Perform kidney transplants, donor procurement operations, and general surgery on transplant patients. Effectively connect with patients and families and provide compassionate support throughout their transplant journey. Foster an environment of strong, open communication with patients, colleagues, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure the best possible outcomes and an excellent overall patient experience. Be involved in the education and training of general surgery residents and abdominal transplant fellows. Provide both formal and informal teaching to trainees both inside and outside of the operating room. Research Contribute to existing clinical research efforts within our division, with a specific focus on clinical trials in kidney transplant Quality Responsible for quality improvement and assurance efforts in kidney transplant. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range.
