Location: Skokie, IL Category: Staff Posted On: Tue Dec 10 2024 Job Description: Basic Function and Responsibility: Under general supervision is responsible for coordinating the operational activities of the Manufacturing / CNC laboratories. Will assist full-time and part-time instructors in the operation and safe usage of the various apparatus and equipment and will help students during regular as well as open-lab periods and classes. Assist in budget development and maintain records of site licensing obligations as well as purchase orders and expenditures. Additional duties include the performance of routine maintenance and related work necessary for the efficient operation of the laboratories. Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities: Maintain, repair, install and configure manufacturing equipment particularly supporting the Computer Numerical Control machines and other machine/trainers in room P130 on Skokie campus. Assist students and faculty in equipment usage, and orient instructors in proper use ofmachinery through explanation and/or demonstrations. Identify needed equipment and supplies and recommend and initiate purchase requests,monitoring expenditures within budget guidelines, and maintaining records of on-site licensing obligations and expirations. Support open-lab schedule for students needing lab access to complete projects and provide tutoring on safe equipment operation for students as well as faculty. Assist in lab project coordination and help instructors proctoring exams and run labs during class. Help instructors in implementation of new courses and associated laboratory exercises. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Job Requirements: Qualifications and Working Conditions: Associate's degree or one to two years of education in a related field such as machining, Computer Numerical Control (CNC), manufacturing, or industrial engineering. Three years of professional and/or industrial experience in manufacturing / machining field, or related technologies. Experience with CNC machine operation, setup and programming equipment is required. Must be able to answer factual questions from others. Requires good listening skills and tact. Will require ability to mentally attend and visually concentrate on a significant amount of detailed work. Ability to interact professionally and tactfully with people of different levels of education, cultural backgrounds, and life experiences, and to exhibit an adequate level of respect to fellow employees and the College community at large. Ability to work evening hours and Saturdays during classes as needed. Physical Demands: Moderate lifting up to 50 lbs. Ability to reach above shoulder. Periods of time spent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending and stooping, ability to use both hands, both arms, both legs with the ability to twist, turn, and bend from the neck and torso, ability to see color. Mobility to move from building to building on-Campus and to visit off-Campus entities. Additional Information: Supervision Exercised: Functional supervision may be exercised over student employees and/or lab assistants. Supervision Received: Administrative supervision is received from the Dean of Business and Career Technologies (BCT). Functional supervision is received from the CAD / CIM Department Chair and/or Coordinator/s. HOURS: Hours vary per semester between Monday - Friday 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm and Saturday 9:00 am - 1:00 pm (15 hours per week) Salary: $23.97 Apply Online
