Additional Information About the Role

  • Up to a $1500 Sign on Bonus
  • Shift information: Day Shift. 8 am - 4:30 (Monday - Friday). No on-call, nights, weekends, or holidays
  • Client group: Community Support Specialist Wellness will support already admitted clients on the Adult and Youth teams that are working to recover from the serious and persistent effects of mental illness.
  • Location: Community based – (also working with 3 BJC Behavioral Health Facilities)
  • Local Travel within St. Louis City, St. Louis County, and Iron, Washington, and St. Francois Counties will be required.
  • Candidates must have a personal reliable vehicle with valid insurance and a Class E or D driver’s license. You will be required to  meet with clients in their homes or at our offices.
  • Candidates must have flexability and be adaptable to change as needed
  • This position will have a referral-based caseload which could be a challenge when starting up due to meeting productivity expectations
  • Candidates must have an awarness of the 8 dimensions of Wellness

Overview

BJC Behavioral Health is a community health center that provides and coordinates behavioral health services for more than 8,000 seriously mentally ill adults and seriously emotionally disturbed children in St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. François, Iron and Washington counties.  As an Administrative Agent of the Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH), BJC Behavioral Health serves as a major point of entry for people eligible for mental health services funded by DMH and is responsible for serving as gatekeeper to the public mental health system.  

 


Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Provide Wellness Coaching to clients, utilizing specific Wellness Coaching tools and interventions to help clients meet goals related to the 8 dimensions of wellness. Work with clients to focus on strengths and needs related to their individualized treatment plan goals while assisting in strengthening their motivation to actively pursue health and wellness. Wellness Coaches are a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team providing comprehensive services.

 

Responsibilities

  • Establish a relationship with referred clients that will build motivation and self-direction to help clients work through the process of identifying wellness strengths, needs, and goals identified on the individualized treatment plan as well as provide structure and support to promote personal progress and accountability.
  • Completes timely documentation of services that clearly describe the need for the service, the intervention provided, the relationship to the treatment plan, the provider of the service, the date, the actual time and setting of the service, and the individual’s response to the service.
  • Contacting individuals and/or treatment team members following missed appointments in order to re-engage and promote wellness efforts. Supporting individuals in crisis situations.
  • Provides mentorship and job shadowing to wellness coaches and community support colleagues.
  • BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
