About This Position
The Quality Control Supervisor ensures that all quality procedures and testing is completed during the production process.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
- Maximize Quality Production with limited down time and waste
- Know and follow all Do's and Don'ts and Company Policies in a positive manner
- Comply with FDA, GMP, OSHA and HACCP guidelines
- Complete paperwork accurately and in a timely manner
- Wear proper PPE per MSDS and OSHA
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Ability to recognize and correct quality issues
- Report any unsafe condition or property damage to supervisor immediately
- Ensure all safety precautions are taken prior to operating machines
- Always notify your supervisor before leaving work station
- Ensure all employees follow the guidelines and notify supervisor accordingly
- Open or close facility as directed
- Ensure we have the correct raw material and follow the "First In First Out" procedure
- Calibrate and maintain scales and test equipment
- Perform Daily Cook and Drink Tests for every different lot per product
- Inspect magnets and screens and record in log
- Accurately input all production information such as lot # and case counts in PC database
- Collect and label retention samples from each lot and place in retention area
- Maintain Retention Area in clean/organized manner by date
- Perform hourly quality checks and record in the QC sheets
- Ensure that all products meet the label weight. Also if a product has multiple ingredients, check each ingredient to ensure that it is the correct weight and document every hour on weight sheets
- Assure finished packages meet quality standards such as; top seals, side seals, bottom seals, gusset, hole punch, zipper, tear notch and print, and any other quality criteria
- Ensure that all packages and cases have the correct code date of Julian date, year, shift, bar-code and employee numbers and code date is legible and in correct location
- Ensure that all cases have correct count, are packed and taped properly and stacked on skids correctly
- Keep track of all skid tags and lot numbers
- Provide process/quality improvement solutions
- Analyze QC data and correct trends as needed
- Correct areas that create waste
- Document production/QC procedures
- Keep current with all HACCP manuals and procedures
- Promptly report QC problems to Production Manager
- Instruct employees on company procedures and operation of equipment in a positive, up-beat manner
- Inspect all film, boxes and raw material for defects; report any non-conforming issues to manager
- Cover for Production Manager in their absence
- Maintain a professional image
- Keep Production Manager informed of any employee issues
- Help ensure rooms are stocked for next shift and equipment is ready to run
- Ensure employees complete production reports accurately and on time
- Accurately complete all production and QC reports and turn into Production Manager by end of shift
- Know what the priority products are and adjust manpower, maintenance, equipment, accordingly
- Perform any other duties as assigned
- One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
