Position Overview
The Quality Control (QC) Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and directing the quality control work and Technicians within his/her area. Under the direction of the QC Manager the Supervisor will make decision and coordinate quality control assignments in the lab, at the facilities, and in the field.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- We are seeking an experienced individual to oversee and direct the quality control work and technicians throughout New Hampshire. Under the direction of the QC Manager the Supervisor will make decisions and coordinate quality control assignments in the lab, at the facilities, and in the field. Must be committed to providing and promoting a safe work environment.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in Quality Control of HMA; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- NETTCP certified in HMA Plant and/or Paving Technician Classification with a goal to be working toward a QAT cert.
- Ability to carry out standardized laboratory tests in accordance with ASTM and AASHTO standards.
- Knowledge and understanding of basic operating procedures and mechanics of an asphalt plant and crusher.
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local regulations pertaining to, but not limited to, safety, the environment and transportation.
- Ability to use a computer to communicate and analyze data. This includes Outlook, MS Office programs, and web-based programs.
- The willingness to travel to other Pike locations throughout Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont when needed.
- Extended hours with possible night and/or weekend work as well as overnights.
- A valid driver’s license.
Additional Responsibilities
- Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
- Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
- Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
- Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision.
- Report to the assigned job site in uniform and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
- Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Environmental, Health & Safety Manual.
- Strict adherence to Pike policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Manual.
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Assist with Interviewing and hiring process as necessary.
- Planning, assigning, and directing work.
- Willingness to develop subordinates’ technical and leadership skills and make recommendations for new job opportunities when appropriate.
- Effective management of employee performance through coaching, feedback (written and verbal), rewards, and discipline when necessary.
- Appraising performance, including annual evaluations and new employee 60-day evaluations.
- Addressing complaints and resolving problems in a timely manner.
- Lead by example.
- Ability to get work done through others using effective delegation, scheduling, and time management practices.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education/Experience
- The QC Supervisor will have a High School diploma or equivalent, three to five years of experience in Quality Control of HMA; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- NETTCP certified in HMA Plant and/or Paving Technician Classification with a goal to be working toward a QAT cert
General Requirements
- Ability to read English language sufficiently to read information contained in specifications, reports, manuals and regulations.
- Ability to carry out standardized laboratory tests in accordance with ASTM and AASHTO standards.
- Knowledge and understanding of basic operating procedures and mechanics of an asphalt plant.and crusher
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local regulations pertaining to, but not limited to, safety, the environment and transportation.
- Ability to detect safety hazards and malfunctions and respond accordingly.
- Ability to operate a two-way radio.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation to and from the job site.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
- Ability to perform intermediate mathematical skills, including basic algebra, geometry, and shop math.
- Ability to use a computer to communicate and analyze data. This includes but is not limited to the use of Outlook, MS Office programs, and web-based programs
- Ability to communicate both verbally and written.
