The Johns Hopkins University department of Otolaryngology is seeking a Research Technologist who will primarily be responsible for managing mouse colonies and processing mouse tissue for experimental analysis. Assist with ongoing projects involving patient tissue samples and cell culture will also be encouraged. Our lab seeks to understand the cellular, molecular, and immunological mechanisms underlying epithelial innate immunity and upper airway inflammation, as well as olfactory loss, with specific areas of focus on chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps. Several ongoing projects investigate epithelium-immune system crosstalk in human tissue and mouse models. Other duties include performing experiments, maintaining and analyzing data, and inventory management. Specific Duties & Responsibilities Works under the general supervision of a faculty investigator and other senior laboratory members. In charge of mouse colony management and organization. Oversee mouse genotyping including Cre-Lox breeding. Responsible for Mouse tissue processing for cellular assays. Performs cell culture maintenance and assay(s) execution. Maintains Protocol standardization. Will organize and present data. Responsible for troubleshooting protocols, maintaining accurate data records. Performs other laboratory duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Knowledge of immunology and experience with immunologic techniques of flow cytometry and immunostaining. Experience working with mice. Familiar with cell culture. Works independently and as part of a team. Be self-motivated and organized. Possess excellent communication skills. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field. Some related post-undergraduate work experience. Preferred Qualifications Proficiency in molecular and cell biology. Experience with mouse work.
