Network Design Engineer - Military Veterans

Position Overview

The Network Design Engineer role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities including network design strategy, network engineering, implementation assistance, migration planning, service design, proof of concept testing, optimization services, and customer training.

Essential Job Functions

  • Technical expertise on Layer 1,2 and 3 carrier networks.
  • Produce the best architecture available to support our network and customer services.
  • Produce network implementation and migration plans.
  • Oversee equipment and service configuration on Network Infrastructure.
  • Test and Support networks in various stages of deployment.
  • Assess customer networks for implementation of FBL products.
  • Formulate network management strategies.
  • Produce and review technical statements of work documentation.
  • Provide appropriate training and assistance to FBL employees.
  • Work with internal technical teams and vendor for product placement and feature improvements for reliability, availability, and serviceability.
  • Work closely with vendors to test, design, and plan for deployments of new products and features.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers & "vendor" technical management and teams.
  • Support Operations during outages needing Engineering support or escalation to equipment vendors.
  • Develop and maintain in-depth technical and marketing knowledge of key product lines.


Requirements
  • BA in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Information Technology or related telecommunication industry experience.
  • 6+ years' experience.
  • Telecom experience preferred.
  • Technical knowledge of transport, routing and switching, and carrier technologies.


Other Skills/Abilities
  • Configures, tests, maintains and troubleshoots Network Infrastructure.
  • Identifies, diagnoses and resolves network issues.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks.
  • Provide pre and post-sale technical support as needed.
  • Daily maintenance and problem resolution, operating system patches and software upgrades and routine hardware configuration.


Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel and reach.
  • Must be able to speak, write, read and understand English.
  • Must have visual acuity.
  • Must be able to lift 0-25 pounds.
