Position Summary
The Data Center Services team is responsible for providing 24/7 operations of the data center facilities, enterprise job scheduling and production monitoring and alerting. The Assistant Director for Data Center Services will be responsible for leading the Data Center Facilities and Operations teams in delivering high impact services that support Michigan State University (MSU) mission.

The Assistant Director leads and contributes to the vision and growth of the data center services in alignment with MSU's strategic goals. In addition, the position leverages professional experience and current best practices to develop and retain an engaged, diverse, accountable and high-performing workforce. Reporting directly to the Assistant Director of Data Center Services are three supervisors with responsibility for the three major pillars of services: Data Center Facilities, Enterprise Job Scheduling and Production Monitoring & Alert management.

This position reports to the Executive Director for Infrastructure and Technology and leads managers to work with key stakeholders to plan and execute projects, manage life cycle of service technologies, plans for service growth, directs initiatives for operational efficiency and effectiveness, manages vendor delivery, and develops budgets for supplier/vendor, refresh and staffing costs.

Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree; more than eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience including at least three of the following: project management, applications design and programming, data center operations, systems programming, database administration, office automation, production analysis, client computing, consulting services, financial management, long range planning and data security; and management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
