IT Sr. Associate - Level 3?? Sr. Developer (Provisional) GENERAL DUTIES I.T. Senior Associates perform highly complex professional work in technology-related disciplines. While areas of specialization vary, typically I.T. Senior Associates perform a range of work in development/programming, communications, technical support, or similar functions depending on the needs of the Information Technology area to which they report. Work tasks include diagnosing, evaluating, overseeing and resolving highly complex projects. They have wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment and may serve in lead roles on complex programs or projects, and/or serve as a direct supervisor of a unit or group. I.T. Senior Associates should demonstrate mastery of one or more technology-related disciplines, decision-making ability in situations related to those disciplines, and be able to serve as a resource in these areas. They may contribute to decisions on I.T. policies and technical standards. This job is in CUNY's Classified Civil Service. It annually serves over 16,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Leading CUNY in funded research, CCNY hosts several research centers, including two new advanced research centers. CCNY's Office of Information Technology (OIT) is a vital component of the College's operation and is responsible for software applications, hardware support, telecommunications, media services, network infrastructure, instructional technologies, and information security. The OIT is committed to collaborating with the college community to provide excellent information technology products and services. Job Overview Reporting to the Director of application Services, the Senior Developer will lead and support the design, development, testing, and maintenance of new software programs and applications, focusing on enhancing the College's business processes. This position involves working closely with other IT units, meeting stakeholders to gather requirements, and occasionally representing the Director in meetings. The Ideal candidate should have strong experience in software systems integration, development, DevOps, and utilizing MVC frameworks such as Symphony and Laravel. A key responsibility is to ensure software adheres to current security standards and best practices, with a preference for candidates who hold cybersecurity certifications or are actively aware of cybersecurity threats. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, test and maintain new and existing applications in support of the college???s business needs. Implement and oversee software integration projects and facilitate system interoperability. Maintain awareness of security standards and conduct code audits to ensure secure software practices. Develop and implement DevOPs strategies, CI/CD pipelines, and version control best practices. Engage with stakeholders to gather requirements, demonstrate project progress, and align deliverables to project scope and expectations. Represent the Director of Application Services as needed in meetings or engagements. Provide mentorship to junior developers and foster a collaborative team environment Technical Requirements Experience in PHP, including frameworks like Symfony and Laravel Strong background in DevOps, including CI/CD implementation and configuration management Proficiency in MVC frameworks and software version control systems such as Git Knowledgeable in application security best practices and compliance, with familiarity in cybersecurity threats Proven ability to develop software in a Windows environment using MS SQL server and llS, while also being comfortable with other operating systems like Linux. Experience creating and using APIs, including RESTful and SOAP, to enable integration and communication between different systems. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent An equivalent of ten years of experience post-high school that can be met by one of the following: ten years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology related position; an Associate's degree plus eight years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus six years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position Demonstrated English Language proficiency A Motor Vehicle Driver's license, valid in New York State, may be required for some, but not all positions. This title has three levels. In addition to the minimum qualifications above, To qualify for Levels 2 and 3, additional qualifications, such as education, experience, or certification relevant to the area of specialization are required. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor???s degree in Computer Science or related field. Minimum of six (6) years??? experience as a senior developer, focusing on systems integration and software development. Experience in implementing and maintaining CI/CD processes. Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, with certifications such as Azure, Security+, or Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) Certification. Strong knowledge of PHP, MS SQL Server, IIS, Linux, and cloud technologies. Working knowledge of various programming languages and server-side application functionality, including Java, ASP, NET, C#, ColdFusion Windows and Linux Server Environments llS/Apache management and configuration Ability to work well with non-technical stakeholders to gather and clarify project requirements. COMPENSATION $109,560 BENEFITS CUNY offers a comprehensive benefits package to employees and eligible dependents based on job title and classification. Employees are also offered pension and Tax-Deferred Savings Plans. Part-time employees must meet a weekly or semester work hour criteria to be eligible for health benefits. Health benefits are also extended to retirees who meet the eligibility criteria.
