Cardiovascular Technician Job Summary The Electrophysiology Lab is a specialized invasive procedure suite where cardiac electrophysiology procedures are performed on patients from neonate through geriatrics. The Electrophysiology Technician is an integral part of the EP team and is responsible for operating the technical equipment used during complex EP procedures. A strong knowledge base that includes experience in a Cardiovascular Lab setting, operation of Mac Lab, knowledge of the operation of various types of x-ray equipment, fluoroscopic x-ray equipment, endocardial mapping equipment including but not limited to Biosense Webster and Carto, as well as experience with assisting the physician in the scrub role for pacemaker and ICD implant procedures are required. Technical duties include pre/post procedure preparation, operation of EP monitors and computers, maintains inventory control, and assists in maintaining a safe work environment. American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis Health CPR American Heart Association (AHA) or UCDH-issued Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification American Heart Association (AHA) or UCDH-issued Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 3 months of hire Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialists (RCES) or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification must be obtained within 12 months of hire. High School Diploma or equivalent 1 year EP Tech experience Ability to perform all roles of the EP Scrub Tech. Knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and electrophysiology. Working knowledge of EP systems equipment. Knowledge and recognition of pressure waveforms and ECG analysis. Ability to provide pre- and post-EP teaching explanations of procedures and emotional support to patients and families. Ability to participate in establishing policies and procedures and in on-going CQI program. Ability to provide orientation and instruction to new EP lab staff and teaching to cardiology fellows, nursing students and visitors.
