This position is responsible for following approved procedures, for the start-up, shutdown, normal operations, monitoring, servicing, and maintenance of all equipment and systems at a Combined Cycle Generating Facility.Must be familiar with emergency procedures to follow during periods of abnormal operation. Accountable for knowing and adhering to all location safety procedures including Lock Out Tag Out and personal protective equipment.Performs maintenance of plant equipment; troubleshoots, repairs, and calibrates equipment. Position must monitor equipment performance through test, analysis, and report variances.Performs chemical analysis and chemical control on steam, cooling and condensate systems, and maintains chemistry logs. Troubleshoots equipment/system problems and fix if possible. Originate work orders for those problems that cannot be resolved by operations. Incumbents assist in the development of standard operational procedures and provide input to plant betterment items to improve plant efficiency, reliability, and safety. Ensures compliance with all local, State and Federal regulations and plant procedures. Regularly required to maintain plan security, operate heavy equipment such as manlifts and forklifts, and handle and transfer bulk chemicals.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated basic computer skills utilizing windows applications, emails and work management software.
- Demonstrated experience and ability to monitor and troubleshoot equipment in fluid system operation (pumps, valves, boilers, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience or training in computer-controlled equipment.
- Demonstrated experience working with mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Demonstrated experience or training in hazardous material spills, fire brigade and first responder.
- 5 or more years power plant experience as an operator, electrician, I&C technician and/or mechanic.
- Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles. Including basic practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations.Engineering experience with combustion turbines, HRSG's steam turbines and combined cycle balance of plant equipment.
- This position has a residency requirement of 1 hr drive time from your residence to the Osprey plant
Working Conditions
- Industrial power plant environment.
- Rotating equipment, poor lighting, vibrations, extreme heat/cold, poor ventilation, fumes/gasses/chemicals, machine operation, vehicle operation,high noise levels, high voltage, prolonged standing, walking, kneeling, bending, climbing, lifting to knees-waist- shoulders - overhead, call outs,outage response.
- Confined space entry
Specific Requirements
- Must have the ability to successfully complete the Combined Cycle Operator Development Program AND the ability to obtain maintenance progression skills in electrical, mechanical and Instrument and controls disciplines. This is referred to as a maintenance progression.
- Or must have held or currently hold a Journeyman level Operator skill (control board operator qualified) AND be Journeyman level qualified in a Maintenance progression skill (Mechanical, Electrical or I&C) and 30% qualified in the other 2 progression skills.
- Understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations, and previous experience working with and around hazardous energy, chemicals and waste materials including knowledge of safe handling, and storage.
- Valid driver's license.
- Must pass EEI MASS and Poss tests.
- Experience or training in hazardous material spills and computer-controlled equipment.
