Responsibilities

About The Role:

We are looking for an IT Architecture Governance Leader, reporting to the Director - Enterprise Architecture, to work with both engineering and architecture leadership in leading the design and day to day operationalization of our technology governance processes. The governance board manager will setup the overall framework and operationalize technology governance reviews regarding (Architecture designs, New Technology Purchasing and Infrastructure design), as well as manage the North Star Steering Committee (NSSC) reviews with Senior Technology and Business Leaders. The ideal candidate has experience in technology review, project and program management and governance and compliance. The ideal candidate will be able to develop auditable reports and metrics to socialize, workflow and track approved designs as well as the audit trail of significant decisions made as a part of the review process.

In your role as IT Governance leader, you will:

  • Work with technology leaders in architecture and engineering to roadmap the governance activities and presenters, their topics and establish, "Run the Show" to ensure smooth pre-presentation preparation
  • Managing all aspects of the technical review meetings for Global Architecture Council (GAC), and North Star Steering Comm (NSSC) including prereview, minutes and take-aways
  • Define and organize the workflow to Intake and Manage new Architecture Requests (In take Funnel)
  • Define and manage the layout and structure of wiki and internal design communications so that Upcoming and reviewed Design decisions are easy to review, audit and are communicated
  • Setup and configure workflow for managing standards, waiver requests and dashboard reporting for technical debt management, and ensure the overall review and audit process for design action items is refined and reportable
  • Ensure architecture design templates and repository are managed to support consistent and reliable delivery of architecture designs and that the design repository supports easy retrieval of design submissions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Experience in the monitoring of IT risk and security controls to ensure compliance with industry best practices.
  • Experience liaising with Internal Audit and other oversight units on enforcing compliance with company policies and best practices.
  • A good understanding of information management practices including architecture design, technology decisions, information lifecycle management, data modelling, master data management and the conduct of business audits and requirements gathering.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially in running governance related programs with participation across technical and senior job functions
  • Practical experience in the implementation or use of document and/or records management systems as well as the ability to establish basic workflows.

Experience:
  • Associate Degree or High School Equivalent plus 2 additional years of related experience required
  • Greater than 10 years in related function required
  • 3-5 years leading through mentorship in related field required
  • 3-5 years leading projects and initiatives through influence required
  • Related certifications and/or licenses required required
  • Member of and recommendation by accredited association in related field preferred

OUR BUSINESS & OUR HISTORY

GM Financial was founded as AmeriCredit in September 1992 and opened its first branch office in Fort Worth, Texas. On October 1, 2010, AmeriCredit Corp. was acquired by General Motors Company and renamed General Motors Financial Company, Inc. (GM Financial). In 2011, GM Financial acquired FinanciaLinx to serve GM dealers and customers throughout Canada.  In November 2012, GM Financial announced the acquisition of Ally Financial Inc.’s international operations. The majority of those acquisitions were finalized in 2013, with the remaining market, a 35 percent equity interest in a joint venture in China, acquired in January 2015.  In October 2017, GM Financial completed the sale of its European financial subsidiaries and branches as part of General Motors’ sale of the Opel and Vauxhall businesses to Peugeot S.A.

 

GM Financial provides auto finance solutions to 14,000 dealers worldwide, with earning assets of $93 billion at September 30, 2018.
