The Convention Center General Manager position is a critical role overseeing operations at the Convention Center, Performing Arts Center, and Memorial Auditorium, requiring deep expertise in venue management, preferably in a public sector context. Please include in your proposal the following requested information:
Proven qualifications and experience in recruiting within the venue management industry with a specific focus on convention centers and performing arts complexes.
What unique knowledge your firm possess related to convention centers, performing arts centers or other similar facilities.
If your firm has worked with industry specialists on searches of this nature.
If your firm has anyone on staff that has worked in the convention centers and performing arts facilities.
Established connections in the venue management field to tap into a talent pool with experience in convention centers and performing arts complexes.
Any relevant industry associations.
Organizations, associations, job boards, etc. your firm would include in their search to identify potential ideal candidates.
Track record of successfully managing searches for high-level positions in convention centers, performing arts venues, or similar facilities.
Examples of high-level executive or officer hires your firm has successfully completed for a convention center or similar facility.
The number of searches your firm conducted for a convention center or similar facility.
Knowledge of:
- Principles and practices of facility management, including public assembly facility management.
- Principles and practices of organization and personnel management.
- Principles and practices of budgeting.
- Principles and practices of marketing and sales in convention centers/theaters.
- Principles and practices of effective public relations.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
-6 years of progressively responsible supervisory and management experience in a convention or entertainment facility, including a minimum of two years managing a major division such as facilities, marketing, operations, or catering.
- A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in business administration, public administration, or closely related field.
