Medcor is seeking an exceptional Physician Medical Director to join our team at a Global Fortune 500 Company based in the Quad Cities. This prestigious role is ideal for an Occupational Health Physician Leader who excels in a dynamic environment, balancing clinical duties with client-facing responsibilities, training, mentorship, auditing, and education.
Scope of Services
The Medical Director will oversee a comprehensive scope of services, including the assessment and treatment of work-related and non-work-related illnesses and injuries, regulatory exams, preventive services, workers' compensation, and episodic and urgent care. The role is primarily based in the Quad Cities, with 80% of the time dedicated to direct patient care and 20% to administrative activities. These activities include directing the medical practice of PAs and NPs, providing consultation, and supporting their educational needs. Additionally, the role involves medical surveillance, fit-for-duty evaluations, and the initial evaluation and stabilization of patients requiring higher-level care. This position requires a valid and unrestricted medical license in Illinois and Iowa, board certification in relevant fields, and a commitment to excellent customer service and collaborative teamwork.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- 80% Direct Patient Care with 20% Administrative Activities
- Interface and support client in Occupational Health issues
- Direction of the medical practice of the PA/NP
- Consultation as needed with the clinic’s PA or NP
- Recognition of the PA/NP’s education needs and help in meeting those needs
- Provide occupational medicine services at a level of an outpatient clinic
- Medical surveillance
- Provide assessment and treatment of work-related illnesses and injuries
- Provide urgent care of non-work-related injuries and illnesses as best supports site activities
- Fit for duty evaluations
- Provide initial evaluation and stabilization of patients who present with illnesses or injuries that require a higher level of care or EMS transport
- Provide pre-placement evaluations
- DOT evaluations
- Successful use of MD Guidelines
Practice Plan with PAs/NPs:
- If the provider is a PA, the physician and PA will execute and file a practice plan acceptable to the state Board of Medicine or Board of Physician Assistant practice
- If the provider is an NP, the physician and NP will execute a collaboration agreement
- The Medcor practice plan agreement is used if there is no state-specified practice plan template
You Must Have
- A valid and unrestricted medical license in Illinois and Iowa.
- One of the following educational and experiential backgrounds:
- Board certification in Occupational Medicine
- Double Board Certified in occupational Medicine AND a Primary Care Field (e.g. Internal Medicine, Family Practice, Emergency Medicine)
- Board certification in Internal Medicine, or Family Practice with fellowship training in Sports Medicine.
- Board certification in Emergency Medicine, with strong orthopedic skills and experience in Occupational Medicine
- A current and unrestricted DEA registration and, as applicable, state-controlled substances registration
- A current BLS certification
- DOT certification
- Diplomacy and Leadership Skills
- Ability to lead and support a large team
- Ability and Experience in creating a positive, supportive culture
- Service Excellence Skills
- Occupational health and Workers’ Compensation experience
- Be able to lift 30lb jump bag/backpack
You Should
- Be comfortable and productive working with computers and EMR software.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills – with patients, clients and colleagues.
- Have Clinical leadership experience
