Department Summary The IT Project Manager is a member of the Digital Initiatives and Information Technology (DIIT) department, which is comprised of over 40 staff members in four functional units: 1) Software Development & Library Systems, which builds both internal and public-facing applications, 2) Core Operations & Computing, which supports the network and manages the servers and storage in the datacenter, 3) the Service Desk and the CLICC program which provide IT hardware support and enterprise application support to Library staff and lends laptops and other hardware to students, and 4) the Digital Library Program which works with partners, both internal to UCLA and across the globe, to execute projects that digitize, describe, and publish archival materials. Position Summary Reporting to the Associate University Librarian (AUL) for IT managers of other projects, and 3) assisting the AUL with planning and monitoring the project portfolio. The ITPM performs project management for multiple concurrent technology projects, including software development, systems and data migrations, tool adoptions and deployments, etc. The ITPM works with stakeholders to articulate goals, define scope, and prioritize deliverables; collaborates with project teams to develop project plans; monitors progress during project implementation and communicates status with stakeholders, project teams, and Library management. The DIITPM works with key library and campus partners to develop and clarify service-level agreements to ensure future sustainability. The ITPM will provide guidance to peers in the department leading other projects. The number of projects will usually exceed the capacity of the ITPM, so other projects will be managed by unit heads, tech leads, and occasionally individual contributors. To ensure these projects are carried out effectively, the ITPM will provide them with tools, techniques, templates, etc. to help standardize the process and facilitate the AUL's ability to monitor their progress. The ITPM will serve as an analyst of the project portfolio for the department, helping the AUL look at all current and upcoming activities, assess resources and capacity, set achievable roadmaps, and monitor progress. Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range. Qualifications 3 Demonstrated experience leading or managing multiple concurrent technology projects using formal methods and communicating with senior stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. (Required) 3 Experience with collaboration tools, including wiki software (e.g. Confluence) and task tracking software (e.g. Jira.) (Required) 3 Experience working in a library, archive, or museum. (Preferred) 3 Experience working with vendors on IT projects. (Preferred) Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both written and verbally to communicate with a variety of team members and stakeholders, including technical staff, client stakeholders, funders, and management. (Required) Ability to describe alternatives to stakeholders, to explain trade-offs, and to negotiate specific and realistic deliverables, budget, and schedule. (Required) Ability to coordinate numerous activities with competing deadlines without compromising quality of work. (Required) Demonstrated ability to plan and conduct meetings, and document outcomes. (Required) Knowledge of information technology systems and infrastructure challenges and solutions. (Required) Demonstrated sound judgment and ability to work independently, set priorities and maintain them, and follow through on assignments. Ability to adjust priorities and procedures as directed by changing goals and objectives.
