Job Type: Faculty Job Description: Kansas City University (KCU) is adding to our Pathology team and is seeking a new Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology & Anatomical Sciences. This individual will contribute to the education of students; engage in service opportunities to effectively and positively promote the University, the discipline, and the profession; and actively engage in the advancement of research and/or scholarly activities. The position is in part to fulfill "in-person" teaching obligations on the Joplin campus. However, the opportunity is open to individuals who would want to be primarily stationed on the Kansas City campus with commute to the Joplin campus to cover lectures, live teaching sessions, and other required in person responsibilities, including commencement and White Coat ceremonies. Within your application materials, please include the three following documents: * CV/Resume * Letter of interest (cover letter) * Summary of your teaching philosophy If you have challenges attaching multiple documents, please email them to ahoward@kansascity.edu Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Use innovative teaching methods and the application of learning sciences in medical education Delivers lectures and active teaching sessions for assigned courses Develops curriculum with a focus on students' board preparation and overall professional development Creates and provides a detailed course syllabus that includes topics and learning objectives for each lecture or learning exercise Prepares exams and quizzes that effectively test students' mastery of course content Completes activities related to the student assessment process, including evaluating test questions, performing exam/quiz analysis, and submitting grades Serves as course director: Creates and provides a course syllabus that includes a course description, course goals, and other course relevant information Conducts evaluations, analyzes data, presents results, and recommends items for improvement Provides service to the department and the University by serving on committees Provide student advising and mentoring, including office hours Engages in research/scholarly activity and continued professional development Participates in Admissions activities, Commencement, and White Coat ceremonies Understands accreditation standards and expectations specific to the department and adheres to policies and procedures to meet or exceed such standards Conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks Conducts oneself appropriately, professionally, and consistently in accordance with the philosophy and mission of KCU Qualifications: MD, DO from an accredited institution Board certification in Pathology, with certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology favored Previous teaching experience (especially in a medical school) preferred Three-five years of practical experience preferred Ability to work effectively with colleagues, the public and private organizations Equal Opportunity Employer KCU is committed to promoting an equal employment opportunity workplace.
