Bench Hand - Military Veterans

Description:Function

 Perform a variety of routine repetitive bench operations to rough and finish burr machined parts, assemble simple components, mark and identify parts, prepare parts for subsequent machining operations or processing and other related bench operations.
Typical Responsibilities

 Follow detailed instructions, prescribed procedures, ordinary drawings and operation sheets, specifications and other written or oral instructions.

 Remove burrs and break sharp edges on machined parts as specified, using belt sander, flexible shaft hand grinder with applicable attachments, hand files, scrapers, stone, emery cloth, compounds and cleaners, etc., as required to finish part.

 Perform minor hand assembly operations of machined components prior to or after machining operations, using simple hand tools such as wrench, screwdriver, drift pin, hammer etc., using vise or simple fixture to hold component.

 Prepare parts for subsequent machining operations or processing such as fill tubes with sand, apply protective coating on micro finishes, apply oil or rust preventative, cut off material on band saw for shop use and perform other related bench hand duties according to requirements of machine shop.

 Maintain quality standards by checking work visually and with basic measuring instruments; record data manually or electronically as required.

 Perform other related work of a comparable or lower skill level, including part marking.

 Perform operator checklist as required and follow all rules and regulations pertaining to environmental health and safety.

 Refer only unusual conditions to working leader or supervisor.

 Perform operator checklist as required and comply with all EH&S procedures.

 As required segregate waste material and follow good housekeeping practices.


May be assigned to carry out tasks, not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department objectives and to develop individuals’ skills.
Basic Qualifications:
Requires ability to read, write and follow written or verbal instructions and use scale, fixed gages and simple hand and power tools.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: Standard Monday to Friday 40 hour work week
