Associate Vice President, Data Platforms - Military Veterans

The Associate Vice President of Data Platforms will lead and manage data platform technologies within our IT infrastructure. This leadership role encompasses AI/ML Data Platforms, Database Engineering, Core ESL Infrastructure Support, Managed File Transfer, Production Support ESL, API Gateway Kong, and On-prem Kafka. The ideal candidate will exhibit a robust combination of technical acumen, strategic management, and leadership skills, ensuring the resiliency, scalability, and innovation of our data platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and vision to drive innovation, quality, and efficiency across all data platform initiatives
  • Ensure the effective deployment and management of AI/ML data platforms, supporting robust data analytics and machine learning initiatives
  • Stay abreast of emerging AI/ML technologies and integrate new tools and best practices
  • Oversee database engineering efforts including EXL, DB2, and MF Postgres, ensuring optimal database performance, reliability, and security
  • Manage non-PaaS database solutions and integrations, facilitating seamless data operations across platforms
  • Maintain and enhance application servers like Weblogic, Tomcat, .Net, and Apache to ensure reliable application deployment and performance
  • Oversee the deployment, management, and scaling of API Gateway Kong, ensuring robust API management and security
  • Implement and enforce API governance policies
  • Ensure secure and efficient managed file transfer processes, supporting diverse data exchange requirements within the organization
  • Oversee production support for ESL (Electronic System Level)
  • Manage on-prem Kafka environments, supporting scalable and reliable data streaming and real-time data processing

Required Qualifications:

  • 15 + years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure and data platforms, with 5+years in a senior leadership role related but not limited to:

Demonstrated experience in managing diverse technologies including AI/ML data platforms, database engineering, managed file transfer, and application servers

Deep understanding of data platform technologies including EXL, DB2, MF Postgres, AI/ML platforms, API Gateway Kong, Weblogic, Tomcat, .Net, Apache, and on-prem Kafka

Proven track record of optimizing database performance and reliability, managing application servers, and ensuring robust API management

Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with a demonstrated ability to build, mentor, and inspire high-performing teams

Ability to adapt to rapidly changing technology landscapes and business needs

Education:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. An advanced technical degree or MBA is preferred

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$185,400.00 - $375,950.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
